I've just bought a new Golden....had one about 8 years ago, and the tones were arranged differently...now they are arranged..low...med high...med low...high. This is the same as the tones on my Omega, which (being in Australia) I have had a challenge coming to terms with this arrangement, as our coins are different to US coins. However, I have have had much success with the Tek Omega using it in single tone mode....Back to the Golden...no visual display, which is good for me...I've only had it out once, as I only received it a couple days ago. The tones take some getting used to, but I find that the Golden hits well on our coins, but other targets (pulltabs, bottle caps and screw caps) give varying tones...ok...I'm digging everything (almost) at present to see what the tones mean, but the further my hunt went, the more comfortable I became, not only with the tones, but with what they were telling me...I've only used it for less than 2 hours, but I'm hoping that this little detector will not only bring me good finds, but also help me to understand the multiple tones on my other machine better. I'm hoping that between the two, I will be able to identify more targets positively and the use of one will enhance use of the other. Thge Golden hits hard on coins, and is quite definite in its response to a coin. However, the 4 tones, separate and combined, give a lot of information....I just have to take it slowly and learn what that information means. HH
