Tesoro Eldorado

New member
Any opinions on the original metal Eldorado? I snagged one in great shape on a whim, but haven't had much luck in reading about it on any forums.

I had one back in the 80's. It was very capable machine. I ran it hip mounted most of the time. One of those ones I wish I kept.

Taking it out tomorrow
For a stroll. I've been playing with it
Kinda getting into to
Know it... I like it. Glad I pulled the
Trigger when
I had the chance... seems like a
Decent unit... i
May try to
Score another another coil
For it. ... if anyone has a coil recommendation
Or tips, I'd appreciate any advice
That can be offered.

It was my first "serious" metal detector....bought one new in 1988 I think it was. Found a lot of good finds out east here before I moved to some of the newer Whites models like the XLT when it came out. Wish I would have kept that Eldorado though....it was a good machine.

i do believe its a keeper... i can see why folks wish they had never parted with them.

1 thing I really like about my Bandido 2 is the option of hip/chest mounting it for waterhunting, something a lot of the newer detectors can't do.

I loved the Original Golden Sabre as well. When they first came out and was able to get one (eventually) they really were neat machines...I just loved them. they were cool..they were solid buit machines...yes a tad heavy but back then stuff was Mack Truck built and you felt you had a quality machine in hand. Just a nice machine to use back then in iron trash I thought

I had one and like all early Tesoro's it was built really well and worked fine.

I think they were hip mountable, if they were , then its one I took off the pole and put it inside my chest waders and hunted an old swimming hole, clad, silver but no gold.

Bought it to relic hunt and found stuff but it was no Nautilus for depth.

Quality detector but I moved on.

I love the old style coils that would glide through the brush without hanging on every stick like the spider coils

Enjoy

Jerry

Herb, was that you that snagged that 'like new' Eldorado off the auction site? Pretty good Buy It Now price. I was tempted. I had one back in the 80's, bought it at the same time i picked up a Toltec 100. The Eldorado came with the widescan coil and did a nice job for me up at the ski resorts. Found an old Golden Sabre last month with the white donut coil, great shape as well. Pulled the trigger on that one. Takes me back to those Days

i stole this one from a guy completely selling out locally....i tried to shop it around for him, but no one bit, so i snagged it myself. its probably a 7 out of 10.... i've heard good things about the goldens, but have never acctually seen one. i almost picked up a cortez recently, but found a new T2 delivered for $350, so i went that way instead. i dont care for the display, but the multi tone is nice... good luck withthat golden.
