:tesoro:DID I BREAK MY WARRANTY

Can anyone tell me if they think i broke my warranty by mounting small BP Solar panels to my new Vaquero, mounted panels across four holes in coil, with small voltage regulator, and installing rechargable nmh 9v battery, with lead.If i can find my dit cam i'll send pic's,if charging in bedroom should be good outside.Chuck of Charleston.

I think you're a genius and can fix it yourself anyway.
Solar panels. I was wondering how'd I go detecting when the terrorist
knock down the power grids....

YAA But marcomo,i'm pretty good with electronics,i think i can put every thing back without Tesoro knowing, could probably put every thing back original in 2 hr's max, come back to me man, who's side you on anyway?.you won't tell will you?hate to do that this thing is tricked out!.Chuck.

Why would you do that to a brand new machine? If I were you I would leave the technical aspects to the manufacturers. Tesoro is very good on their warranties and you may still have a warranty. I was told by one of the techs that they have repaired machines that have been modified, and done the repairs under the warranty. I still say batteries last a long time in these machines and batteries are cheap when you figure in the amount of time they last. If any manufacturer came out with a machine that used solar power in the searchcoil I would probably shy away from them because the searchcoil goes through a lot of different possibly ruining situations; water; dew; bumping; etc. Why you would do that to a brand new machine is beyond me?

I agree with jhette. I use solar chargers for spare batteries only. no need for extra weight/encumberance on coil, especially in desert conditions,or anywhere else. I like your enthusiasm ,but not your style. You are in House Arrest for good reason. Think deeper and transcend, no trespassing and no modifications without representations! sam in ms

Guess he's not as smart as you Chucky, you're just one of those "bright tresure" hunters and you've got it all over us brother!!

How many folks would mount electric or metal objects on their search coils, take the speaker out instead of using tape, install christmas tree lights on the panel and then plug in earbuds and claim he can hear as good as any 100+ ohm full muff headphone designed specifically for detecting?

Actually the vibating handle for the deaf was a good idea. The deaf already have a detecting aid. It plugs into the headphone socket and lights up when the detector responds to metal. You should make one of those too.

Whoa.....night detecting. :surprised:

Tape a flashlight to your middle rod so it will shine down on your solar cells so you can keep up the trickle charging to your christmas tree lights.

The only down side to this is you know we'll never let you sell a used detector on Findmall :)
