the sand shark, being a PI machine would clearly be your first choice for salt water. However, if you dont intend to actually go into the water, and if your beach or beaches have heaps of trash in the sand, then you may want to think about a machine which will discriminate. I have used my Eldorado (u Max) in dry sand and even in the water, and it works ok....I wouldn't expect good depth in water/wet sand, but it will find shallow coins etc. I have also used my Cibola on dry sand (saltwater beaches) and it works well (I should mention that my Eldorado gets very good depth in dry sand, with some holes going down to where the sand is wet). I know of at least one other detectorist who has used his Cibola in salt water, and did well with it there. You might need to assess your beach, e.g. how mineralised is the sand?, is there much black sand (mineralised), as varying conditions will affect the depth of any VLF detector. The Tiger Shark can also work well on some salt-water beaches, and it is water-proof. The Lobo ST is another detector from Tesoro that could work well for you. Think about where you will be doing most of your detecting before you choose your detector, and if you will be spending most of your time in wet sand/water, then the Sand Shark could be your best option. Good Luck
