Tesoro Detector Tones

 Hello, I have a question for you Tesoro users. I don't have any experience with Tesoro detectors but I am shopping around. I watched some You Tube videos where a guy was demonstrating various Tesoro units. I hope this doesn't offend anyone but my question is, " Do all of the Tesoro machines sound like a squeaking rubber duck when they detect metal?" Please respond with some serious answers after you stop laughing. Thanks, RDF :detecting::tesoro:

Hay RDF,

lol.... It ain't for ever-body.

I got back into MDing over a year and a half ago after a long lay
off.

I went through some low cost and mid range TID detectors.

Was gettin kind a frustrated. Noisy and un-predictable when
tryin to get performance. Tha weight hurt so bad I would have
to stop detectin for days at a time. That really sucks.

I stumbled on tha light weight and stable analog performance
of single tone Tesoro'es.

Cibola was tha first of several. That's all I use now. Two point
two pounds and even less. That is tha real kicker.

And thay got good performance and a good dependable product.

You would be amazed what I get from just a single tone unit.

I can tell alum cans, iron, depth. It's easy to tell tha difference
between a clad penny and a copper or a dime.

The sound of a Tesoro is music compared to a squawkie MXT, or
a crazy wacky toned Minlab. Greenie Meanies and Fishy Fishers
are scratchy records compared to tha sweet analog, single tones
of a Tesoro.

Pardon my language regarding some great equipment, but tha
sweet Tesoro tones have spoiled me.lol

You're just sittin on tha other side of tha fence where ever thing
is a little different.

It's all just detectin.

What you like is tha best there there is. Brand don't really matter.

I just happened to end up with 5 single tone Tesoroes and love it.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

At first a single tone may sound like, well a single tone. Afterward I can distinguish differences in character of the single tone. Quality headphones for me always to help.
Multi-tone, I use them to, but don't feel at all handicap with a single tone machine.
Then another has the bell tones - not saying nothing wrong with them, it's just they are not for me. For some reason I don't care for the bell tones. Others may/do prefer it.

With a VCO in all-metal some of them sound like a mix of finches, doves, warblers, ducks and geese with some steam whistle in the background. The Tejon in VCO mode is very interesting indeed.

There are subtle sound differences you learn over time with the straight "beep" in discriminate mode. The VCO variations on the detectors that have them provide more information.

I like the rubber duck sound. Once I started to learn the duck's language it has lead me to better finds overall than my multi-toned target ID detectors. There are certain environments (wet salt water beaches) that I prefer my other brand detector; but on dry sand, fresh water, and land, it is kind of hard to beat the variations of the Tesoro quack once you learn it. They are light weight, very effective detectors.

Oh, and does reddirtfisher mean highly mineralized clay areas? If so, I'm thinking the Vaquero quack may be a good tool for you.
Merry Christmas!

It has a whole language of different tones and even a notch feature!! And yes, the do sound like a duck....or a Golden Goose!!

- - No, All Tesoro's do not sound like rubber ducks, being strangled.
The Tiger Shark does, but not the rest.

As with anything, it depends on what you get used to. I went to Finland years ago. Believe me Finnish is not an easy language to learn - but I managed.
More important than some audio you hear on YouTube are physical properties in use and performance.

Judge by those and when you find a detector that has them - you'll learn to love it's voice, however it sounds.

 Thanks guys, you have made me really curious about the Tesoros. I think I will try one out. I know a dealer that lives about an hour away.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year , RDF :detecting::cool:
