Tesoro Deleon

Although an ID machine with Cortes circuitry, compared to other similar tesoro's what would be the advantage of this machine and its main use?
Cheers!

I like my Cortes better than my Vaquero because the the ID readout gives me a bit of a clue without twiddling knobs. And I like the depth indicator. But I still have to dig to be sure.

you asked and stated, a rather 'mixed' question, but I'll give it an honest shot here:
Although an ID machine with Cortes circuitry,...
.. You said the DeLe

The only "similar Tesoro machine" is the Cortes. Both use the same circuitry but the you get a lot more features and a lot more target information with the Cortes. The DeLeon only has 5 target ID icons (the entire range of targets is classified into 5 groups) vs. 11 on the Cortes. The Cortes has back light option, SUM mode, and two notch modes to choose from. Between the two, the only "advantage" I can see in buying the DeLeon over the Cortes, is cost. They both perform the same but you get more screen information on the Cortes.

None of the "turn-on-and-go' models, to include those with a little manual GB in only one mode, will rally be as versatile in a wide range of applications and ground environments, or capable of using an assortment of search coils w/o noise and chatter (out of balance), as will a manually ground balanced Tesoro, such as the Tej

by the way thanks for all your help. i am a little confused though, i thought on the vaquero if you look at the disc knob, if you turn it completely counterclockwise it clicks into a true all metal mode. and then you have to turn it clockwise and click it into disc mode???. i thought this is a change selector to go from one mode to the other. i am not sure what you mean by a momentary mode.

Yes, that is correct. You can select to hunt in an All Metal, threshold-based, manually ground balanced mode and can click the Disc. control to All Metal to make the necessary adjustments.

Once done you have established a good GB and Threshold for the Pinpoint mode as well. The you can hunt in the motion Disc. mode with an established rejection setting you prefer and if you get a signal you can press the Pinpoint button to momentarily shift to an All Metal mode for pinpointing a target.

But the Vaquero lacks the ability to SEARCH in an All Metal, Threshold-based, Ground Balanced mode and quickly toggle over to a Disc. mode with an established GB setting like you could with the Eldorado or Bandido series units.

I am finishing up a letter for the good folks at Tesoro with what I consider to be a versatile, functional all-purpose model with features I and others would like to see. I'll share that thought later on on the forums for opinionated input. :)

hi again Monte. if on the vaquero you turn the disc knob clockwise into disc mode is it not the same as using the toggle switch on the tejon to go from all metal to disc mode? you said it lacks the ability to quickly go from one mode to the other, but it seems you can do the same to me only using the disc knob instead of the toggle switch. don't get me wrong I am not trying to argue your point maybe i am confused and not seeing what you mean. i just seen your pm. i am having trouble with my email sorry. so in short can you really do the same with the vaquero only it would take longer because you would have to set the disc exactly where you want it instead of just hitting the toggle switch?
