this morning i took out my new secnd hand deleon for a run here in australia and in a small park close to home that previously i went by without a second glance and found $12.70 in aussie coins.they had been there a while judging by their colour and they were deep.i had the detector sense only on four, disc on tab.i wondered what i would find if i opened it up to full sensitivity.china maybe?is this the norm for this detector?emubnob

Nice work. I always been fascinated with Tesoro detectors and the Deleon/Cortes in particular. Can you give a short review of the Deleon?

I was surprised by the depth of my DeLeon. I usually run the disc at under a nickel and find it's more stable and deep enough for me running the sensitivity between 7 and 9. I've found lots of coins with it, but that's at least partly due to the fact that I swing it a lot as I really enjoy using it.

Sounds as if your settings were pretty good for that park. Once you're used to the machine and the power it can generate, you could possibly start experimenting with the sensitivity anddiscrimination knobs. When I use mine, I like to set it so that the meter readouts are accurate and stable....high sensitivity in an area where most of the targets are within 4" of the top of the ground can cause a lot of frustration. Where you know that the targets are sparse and whould mostly be deep, higher sensitivity will be more appropriate....of course this also depends on the relative mineralisation of the soil, the DeLeon having preset ground balance. Good luck and Happy Hunting.

The Deleon has been one of my favorite Tesoro detectors and wish I had never sold it to upgrade that was 15 yrs ago . just found a mint condition Used one from a Club member for $300.00 so it will be added and will be used a lot next to my Tejon and Tesoro/TroyShadow X2

I find my Deleon to be just as deep as my non-supertuned Vaquero was. That's as deep as I care to dig.
