Depends on type & size of target and soil conditions (wet, dry, mineralized) . You can easily expect 7" on most targets and most soil conditions. It is an excellent detector for coin & relic hunting. I love the "sum " mode.

I agree about 7 to 8 inches is pretty average on coins for me. My Cortes is hot on coins and with my new Killer B headphones? DEADLY.
