Looking for info on the Cortes. Anybody have any tips. I want to know the good things as well as the not so good about the Cortes. I just got a used one and it seems to do very good on our salt water beach in the dry sand. How is it for finding deep silver? Thanks for any and all reply's.

Don't always rely on what you read on the forums. You be the judge, use it for a month or two, then decide if its a working detector for your soil and hunting style.
If so you have a winner.

Here's what I did to mine so I could see what I had at a glance. Just remember nickel, zinc and 50 cents orange marks and what's in between.

The Cortes is super deep in my mild soil. I run the lowest discrimination setting and no notch.

If you're in a trashy area and what to use the notch, set it to 'narrow' notch and you won't lose as much depth on a silver dime as you would by using 'wide' notch.

It even correctly ID's targets in the all metal mode.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Tabman. I'd like a bit larger screen, but the depth is good and I do just fine without maxing out the sensitivity in most locations. I usually run my disc just above iron in most situations.

I had a Cortes, and I found the depth pretty impressive. Not Tejon impressive, but better than the Golden uMax I had at the time. I found that if I saw a 95 flash even once while swinging over a target, even though the numbers jumped around, it was a coin. Being in Canada, I couldn't rely on the markings for the US coins. I found the SUM feature not very useful. By the time I kept swinging to get the tones to average out I could just dig the target and not have to guess.

Battery life was incredible. I was able to get 50 hours out of a set, even with some occasional use of the backlight.

My only real complaint about the Cortes is that it is overpriced for what you get. As much as I love Tesoro products, I have to admit that there are better choices out there for the money if you feel you must have a TID machine.

Have fun with it.

I find the Cortes intriguing, I have spent alot of time watching all the videos I could find of the Cortes and Laser Hawkeye. I think I have read all the info I could find posted, and I feel like I have really come up short with the info found.

As a Golden user, I would find useful the similarities between the two. Is the Cortes a Golden + TID? Any comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

I would love to have some more info and videos on the Cortes also.

Hi all. Here are two videos that I just posted that contains some info about the Cortes. I haven't had mine long but I plan to make more videos about the Cortes detector. Like you, when looking for info and videos about the Cortes I found very little. There were a few videos on You Tube in foreign language but very few in English. If you have any ideas on what I should put in the videos, please let me know. Thanks.

Very nice videos, you did a great job making them. I enjoyed watching them, watched them both.
Only thing I can think of adding is if you are consistently getting a bar in the iron as well as a good reading, it's usually iron junk. But I guess on an old site or target masking that doesn't mean much.
Nice to see a decent video on the Cortes.

Thanks Thump7 for your comment. That is good info you added. I have noticed that if the 4 (sound, text, bar graph, and ID numbers) don't agree, then it's most likely junk... I need more time to nail this down as fact but it looks that way so far.
