Adding bright orange tape sure makes the Cortes display easy to see what the bars being displayed are at a quick glance. All you really have to remember is what is to the left and right of 'nickel' and 'zinc'. In my mild soil the Cortes goes really deep in the discrimination mode and does an excellent job correctly identifying targets. Also, it's peaceful to use. No EMI chatter. The Cortes hardly makes a sound until the coil goes over a target. It has a nice crisp tone to listen to when it does sound off.

If you want to coin shoot for silver coins and nickels and not be bothered with a bunch of trash targets, just set the discrimination below nickel and use the notch function.

I really like the Cortes a lot.

They don't like us comparing different brands of detectors on a forum of a particular brand. I'll say this, they're both excellent detectors and if I had to choose between the two at this point and time I'd pick the Cortes. It's more versatile and fun to use. If someone tells you that the Cortes is deeper than their other

yeah I know I guess I should of just p/m sorry for putting you on the spot, I've had the cortes myself it was a good machine but I liked my Deleon better just wished they incorporated a MGB to the disc circuit who knows maybe I didn't give enough time with it?

I've own both as well, but I like the Cortes better. The Deleon seemed to hit harder and deeper, but its audio tone wasn't as crisp to my ears. It was like the auto re-tune was set a little slower. Maybe that's what gave the Deleon better depth. It could be just particular to those two machines that I owned and not to others.
