Tesoro Cortes Strikes Gold :tesoro::usaflag:

I went out this morning to see if I could get some detecting in before the rains came. I hit a local sports field and was finding some pretty deep targets with the Cortes. Most of the tabs and coins were 5 to 6 inches deep and the Cortes with the 8 inch doughnut coil was hitting super hard on them. About an hour into the hunt I got a sweet signal that rang out loud and clear. I knew what it was even before I dug. Heck, I even circled and hovered over the target for over a minute to milk out every bit of joy I could take in. The VDI number was a steady '61' and the 'sq' tab bar was solid with no bouncing around. The Cortes was locked on like a pit bull dog. I could raise the coil around 5 inches off the turf and still get a strong signal. I carefully dug the plug so not to damage the target. Sure enough, a little over 3 inches down, out pops a nice size man's 14k gold wedding band.

You can see my settings in the picture. If I had been using the notch feature I would not have found this ring. Yesterday I did some testing out in the yard with the Cortes and Golden

By gosh you sure seem to do very good on the dirt gold, not to mention silver, but for the sake of this post, you do find a good amount of gold every year...:thumbup: Perhaps I will have to have a look at these Tesoros someday. Nice work, good pics and write up too!

Nice find with the Cortes. Those kind of finds make it worthwhile getting up in the morning.

I hope everyone seen the junk that comes with that nice ring. Great job.... KEN

tabman, that is a beutifull ring, and the grass is like a golf feild, do they bother you about digging? what a cool picture, it should be framed, the cortez is another great tesoro gold finding detector , WTG

Nice finds! Sooner or later I'm gonna have to start digging pulltabs.

Thanks Gunnar.

No they don't bother me. The grounds keeper was there when I found the ring. I took it over and showed it to him. He stated that he couldn't tell where I have been digging on the field and told me about some other good locations to detect that he takes care of. He also wanted to know what kind of detector I'd recommend. I suggested a Tesoro Silver

Good job tabman, the Cortes is a Tesoro that I have never owned or used, would like to give one a try sometime. I'm not surprised it is a good jewelry sniffer, after all it is a :tesoro:.

Thanks everyone. I'm on the prowl for another gold ring. :detecting:

I can't begin to tell you how much I'm liking my recently acquired Tesoro Cortes. It's an awesome detector.:thumbup:
