I've got detectors with both and either work just fine.

But try it with the disc set to just click on a paper clip or small nail and see if the disc is affected in this area of discrimination..I have found a slight difference with the Compadre and the Silver. This would translate into iron minerals and the difference a plastic bolt would make.SkiWhiz said:

i changed mine for giggles just to do it, but put the originals in my hunting sack in case i needed a quick fix.
