Tesoro Compadre w/ 8 inch brown search coil is a thumbs up!

Went yesterday to try my new 8 inch brown search coil on the compadre and I am amazed how it performed. I found seven coins in less than 30 minutes in a place where I had suppossedly dig out everything in all metal mode. I even found a nickel all covered with green patina which is hard to find with other detectors when discrimination is being used and was using discrimination until the 5 cent. I did not have time to stay longer because of the mosquitos and it was getting dark but I am eager to go again with no pressure and with all the time in the world.

where did you get a compadre with an 8" search coil? i thought they were either 5.75 or 7" coils on the compadre.

I believe this came up a while back as a topic for conversion. Sounds like it has worked out well. I'd like to see the Compadre offered with coil changing capability like the rest of the line up.

i have read nothing but good things about the compadre and it has me wanting to get one. being able to change coils on it would be nice, but i guess tesoro builds them that way to meet a certain price point.

in australia we have the option of what coil we want on the compadre at time of purchase, whether it be the 5.75" or the 8".blowfly,see ya!

Hi all

I'm also impressed by the Compadre with the 8" brown coil.

It found me about three thousand coins now in about six months of use, the summer months on the beach being the best ones.

Mine has a fixed 8" coil, a version that, according to me, is only available in Europe (but Imight be wrong.).

Very nice and efficient little unit !

That gives me good reason to try the 8"Brown on my Amigo 2. Results should be pretty much the same as if it were on my Compadre (5.75.) I put the plug on about 12" of wire outside the A-2 so I could experiment with the coils. I ain't no Tech and when I looked inside at how little room is in that box, I followed Ty Brooks advice and stayed outside with the plug. Smooth move on some good advice. Thanks again Ty!
