Tesoro Compadre thoughts almost a week into it

Darn inexpensive little machine to start with. There has been no problem with anything falling off or breaking and in fact it seems pretty darn durable. It does not like the Garrett Pro Pointer at all. If the pointer is on the Compadre will simple not work properly. Not an issue really just an observation. I need to shoot a video of that occurring. Pin pointing the target is easily done. Battery life seems OK I'm on my second one now. Came up with an easy way to secure the coil cover using Velcro strips. No performance issues with the method at all. I did add three Velcro strips to the shaft to hold the cable properly. Now I just need to find a couple of mason jars brimming with at least sliver dimes. Yeah at this point I would settle for that so long at they were uncirculated Barbers wrapped in paper tubes inside that jar which is also sealed tightly. All in all this is a fun little machine I'm very glad I found out about it before I fell victim to ads for high priced wonders. At the cost of some of them I think there was also a digging option on the menu screen :heh:.

Jmc I think you will find yourself, not liking the VDI machines, for a light weight the compadre can take on the heavy weight fighters and win 60% of the time remember David licked Goliath with a sling and a stone I kind of see the compadre like that , some think humm wee need a machine with more numbers and sounds and one that weighs 6 pounds and has a complicated set up menu, and like david putting on all that armor he said humm all this armor is to heavy and its slowing me down maybe less is more no one thought of that , but tesoro did and i tell you that little compadre has slane many a giant--- MANY and will continue to do so . keep up the cool vids Gunnar

Im glad you are enjoying your Compadre, however I think there is something awry or a misconception, I have never had any interference with my compadres and the pro pointers or any of my other machines as well. Maybe there is something causing this for you. i cant recall any other people having that issue, but I could be wrong. I leave my machines on all through my hunts. I have had problems when I have 2 of my compadres running close together though. Hopefully you can find a solution, that is time consuming to have to turn it off each time. good Luck.

I have several detectors that don't mix real well with the Pro Pointer. Usually all I have to do is lay the detector down with the coil pointed well away from the target area and no more problem.

I have two Propointers and one of them drives my Compadre crazy, the other one I have no problem with. Sent the Compadre in to be checked, it was fine and after talking with Rusty, he said they must be running near the same khz.

JMC,, You have fallen in love with that detector. It is just a blast to use. The more you use it the more you will love it and trust what it is telling you. It really does talk to you.
If you are like me, when it beeps I ask it what is down their. It is almost like it will tell you.. Trust it. It is one very smart detector. Tesoro really messed up when they made this detector.
I don't think we should tell many people what it can do. There wont be anything left for the rest of us to find.. Not even that small gold... You seam to worry about the coil cover. I have one. I don't even use it. I mostly hunt grassy areas and play grounds with mine. That will not hurt it. Just gets dirty. If I hunt where there are many stones I might put it on. Don't forget, you have a lifetime
warranty with it. That coil is also kind of thick. You wont wear it out. Do you miss a meter on your detector now? Have fun... Let us know how you are doing. It looks like all of us here are rooting for you... KEN

Glad to know the Pro Pointer thing is not my imagination. My next test so to speak will be to run with more of the discrimination backed off. So far hits on pennies, quarters, and dimes have been fine. Nickels have been left out but I'm sure there are some out there along with maybe even gold items. Trying also to get back into the flow of the hobby. Rigged up a better pouch system and have the required tools in better positions for use.
