One of the Detectors i own is the compadre and all i can say is its great.Loves coins is fairley sensitive is light good battery life too. Also has decent depth and is pretty good on jewlry too. Thanks Tesoro

I am quite convinced of the qualities of the Compadre.

After missing the opportunity to get a Laser Scout, which is basically a Compadre with sensitivity knob, I am now negociating for a Compadre with the 8" stock coil (only available in Europe, I think).

Should get it next week. Sure it will swing on the beaches here, it has great coin shooting qualities.

I love mine. Have the 5.75" and leave it in my trunk (company car) for some lunchtime shoots. Fast, light and deep enough for trashy and abbreviated searches.

Cheers

I think the Compadre is one of the best sleeper deals out there.
I paid no attention to it for some time, then decided to give it a try. Figured what do I have to loose - I was actually impressed with it's simplicity and effectiveness. I'm glad I gave it a try - such a fun machine to use. An affordable, light, easy to use machine.

Ya it really is a cool detector for the money. light easy to use highly sensitive good klhz frequency for gold 18.5. Can swing all day and has pretty fast swing rate too.

I'll agree with everyone here, the Compadre is a fine machine.

Cheap to buy and you get a lifetime warranty to boot.

Good in trash, a lot of fun and simple as it gets to use. You can put this detector in the hands of a small child and they'll find stuff.

Depth is only so-so, but with a small coil and lower gain circuitry it's obviously not intended for deep coin or relic hunting. It is intended for coin shooting and pulling coins out of trash and it does that very well.

Contrary to what was said above, the operating frequency is 12 kHz.

As for what depth is concerned, I read somewhere what I could find out from experience : you get, on coin sized targets, between 1" less and 1" more depth than your coil wide is.

So the 5,75 should give between roughly 5 and 7" depth. More than sufficient for most applications.
