Tesoro coil screw

I'm wondering if the stainless coil screw will upset the coil that came with my Vaquero.

No... they are fine to use and won't hamper performance. I'm sure most companies today use the nylon screw/nut for cutting costs overall.

I went to home depot and got the nylon screw and wingnut. If that's what you prefer, they have a good selection.

Texadillo might be right, its a cost saving measure, but I like the idea of a non metallic coil bolt.

I have a mix of both and have never been able to see any problem with either.

The older styles of coils had a smaller metal screws and the newer detectors have a plastic larger bolt.
In order to use any newer coils, you will either need a new lower pole with the larger hole.
Same but opposite for newer detectors and older coils. I needed to drill a 1/4 hole to widen out the holes so I can use them.

I have a mix of both sizes regarding the holes in the coil ears. An alternative if one doesn't want to drill out the coil ears is to check your local hardware outfits for nylon screws the same diameter as the older, stainless screws. I've used them with good results.
