Tesoro coil info needed

Hi all, I would like your thoughts on this coil. It is suppose to be a 5.75" concentric coil. I bought this on eBay brand new from an individual. It was $89.00 + shipping = pretty good deal. From all my research and going to different dealers websites I am unable to find a 5.75" concentric coil with a sticker on it like mine. They are all just plain black, the 5.75" widescan coils have a sticker on them. I am hoping that it is really a concentric coil. Now if the winter would go away so I can try out my new Vaquero. Thanks! Steve.

This is a 5.75 concentric coil I had for my Cibola.

It's a real hum dinger!!!!

Good luck,

Thanks Tabdog. Did you like the 5.75 with the Cibola. I see that you got yourself a Vaquero now. I noticed you said the 5.75 that you had, bet you wished you would of kept it for your Vaquero. Thanks TD! Steve.

Hay Steve,

You're right. I sold the coil with my Cibola because I only had 10kHz machines.

I was hunting with D-2 and I wasn't finding anything so I turned my dicsrimination down
hopping to get more depth.

I dug a hole so deep I had to rest. D-2 came over to help but the target had come out
with my last shovel of dirt from the one foot pluss deep hole.

It was a small bit of a rusted nail. D-2 proceeded to lecture me on turning my disc too low.

I said " I told you this thing would go deep!! ".

We had a good laugh.

HH,

My coil doesn't look like that but I think it's an older model. I have a vaquero and that coil stays on it all the time. The weight is just right for that detector. I can't tell much difference in depth between it and the stock coil. It's great for getting between the brush and trash.

5.75 coils - uMax / Wide Scan (H.O.T.) / Concentric (H.O.T.)

The 5.75s are just swell - HH

Hey Tab,

Is the red dot where they pinpoint?

Nice looking coils, btw.
You sure take good care of your stuff!

Hello all, I have seen on a couple of post that guys have sent there machines to Tesoro to have them (tuned) to a new coil. Is this necessary? I have e-mailed Tesoro about it but no responce--Kurt

Thanks for reply tabdog. Was just curious, really don't want to be with out my Deleon :detecting: for very long. Since it has preset gb do you think it would help to send it in for the 5.75? Seems to work just fine, just wondering--Kurt

I have not known of anyone sending a Deleon in to have it calibrated for a 5.75 coil.

I think that it doesn't effect it enough to make that much difference.

I could be wrong. If I am maybe someone will correct me.

HH,

The DeLeon has manually adjustable ground balance in all metal mode. Steve.
Steve, ? not unless someone stole my ground balance nob don't believe you can adjust it?
You are correct Curt, my mistake for some reason I was thinking of the Fisher F4. Sorry folks! Steve.

I'm wondering about the re-tune part, also....

If a machine is optimized at the factory, when new, for their coil of choice, it would most likely go one size up, or down, using coils they sell for the machine. my situation is use of the CS coil. I do NOT get much depth with it, yet another user claimed he did very well.

I don't know if GB is same as a trimmer circuit for the coil.
Somewhere in the writings, someone said it was similar to a squelch control, which is NOT a trimmer function.

If your machine is adjusted to get optimal performance with a 5.75" coil, I don't see where it could function at it's best if the CS coil was swapped on to it.

But I'm no expert....

It would be great to hear from one, on this subject.

Hello all, first post. Y'all really should have locked the door sooner...

I have been a golden umax user for about 6 years. I have needed factory service once on the machine. When I sent it in, I didn't think to send my coils in with it. I received a friendly note in the return box that if I would like the machine/coil balance checked to please send my coil(s) in with the unit. Afterwards I got it confirmed that if you send your machine in with all your coils they will set it to work as good as possible with all coils. This may be a happy medium of all your coils. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum Diggernash,

This is a very good forum.

I have never used the Golden. I have a Vaquero, Silver, Euro, and a Compadre.

You must be very good with your Golden after six years.

I'll be looking forward to your post.

HH,
