Tesoro Cibola :tesoro::usaflag: Slow And Easy :detecting:

I had a great time with my Cibola today. I decided to go back over the small area where I found the Standing Liberty Quarter yesterday, but this time even at a slower pace. I ended up digging a bunch of nickels, a few clad coins, some wheat pennies (1946, 1941, 19??, 1945, 1947, 1951), and a 1944 Washington Quarter. It really pays to slow down and take your time. There's something special about this Cibola, it locks onto coins like there's no tomorrow. I can pretty much tell if it's a coin or not. I know that I dig a lot of trash looking for gold jewelry and relics, but I would be willing to bet that I could call it a coin and be right most of time, even setting and leaving the the discrimination set at the point where a Gatorade Sports Drink Foil Cap just discriminates out. Yes, I like my modded Cibola a little better than I do the Vaquero. The Cibola isn't just a Vaquero without a ground balance, it's different, even if it had the same ground balance. I wonder why Tesoro made the electronics different on the Cibola?

tab your esessment agrees with keith southerns, I think i would like to get the cibola and do the mode, by the way that is a nice silver quarter, its been some time since i see silver come out

Some nice finds, one observation is that the common denominator is that you are using Tesoro detectors and the NEL Sharpshooter, that coil in my mind just makes the combination nearly perfect would that be fair too assume that.

I definitely like the Sharpshooter on the Cibola. I'm about to get my hands on a Tesoro 5 x 10 DD coil to see how it compares. On the Tejon, I'm leaning towards the 8 inch doughnut coil over the Sharpshooter. I need more time to do more testing.

Keith is one smart dude when it comes to detectors, so I know it's not just my particular detector.

One of the things that noticed is that audio modulation is softer and smoother. I really like listening to it.

Tab I want you to know that your final opinion will sway me one way or the other , and a lot of other folks, I like to listen to those who have put in the time on machines, and you have done that your opinion is not like the price of gold that may go up and down , your opinion holds it value and what is cool is you have the occasion to dig a good amount of silver & gold targets with lots of junk , so that also makes you very qualified to judge the difference on detectors. keep up the good work

Oh heck! I can't make up my mind half the time on what I like and don't like. Don't put too much weight into my opinions. I'm still learning.:)

I wonder if anyone else has noticed any differences between the Vaquero and Cibola other than the ground balance. Maybe they'll chime in.

The mod makes the Cibola special, now you know why I liked to tinker with Tesoros. When I did the first mod years ago, it worked after getting the info from Keith so I wrote up the tutorial how-to so everyone who wanted to could do easily as well. Just had to spread the word. Folks were a bit close minded back then on the forum and kept saying why did you just not buy the Vaq...................waste of time. Whatever, I thought, it works for me, so it will work for others. Did some mods for others and they were quite pleased with the end results. Seems like many are now more of an open mind, did the mod themselves and are happy to report about it. The Cibola ground balance mod is now one of the most popular Tesoro mods to do. Since Keith did the video on a Cibola he mod'd, folks are believing.

Good luck with your Cibola

Don't forget to try the 5.75" concentric on the mod'd Cib. It's a tot lot killer

Smashing find Tabman. Excellent detecting.... Z
