I thought I'd give a large corner lot a try this morning that has plenty of grassy area between the curb and sidewalk for me to detect. Those grassy areas have produced well for me, especially the ones where cars park along the curb. The house was built in 1950. I made my mind up to set the discrimination just high enough to discriminate out a nail to see how it goes. After I decided on how I was going to grid search the site I starting swinging my coil deliberate and slow so not to mess anything. My very first 2 targets were wheat pennies that I found along the walk to the front door. That got my blood to flowing. I was digging plenty of trash, with that low discrimination setting, but I didn't want to miss a gold ring if one was there to be found. I got my coil over a dateless Buffalo Nickel near the shrub bed. It was only few inches deep and gave out a loud audio response. Both my Cibola and Vaquero hit super hard on gold rings and nickels. I kept digging wheat pennies, but no silver coins. I knew that there had to be some there, all I had to do is get my coil over one and it's mine. I eased down to the grassy area between the sidewalk and curb and found a skate key right off. I wonder how it got there. LOL I kept swinging slow and deliberate covering about half of the width of the grassy area with each sweep. Finally, I got a sweet soft audio tone that put a big smile on my face. I carefully dug down and unearthed a 1945 quarter. Happy Happy! It didn't take long before I had the Sun shining on a 1943 War Nickel. I'm on a roll and enjoying every minute of it. I was going to save the driveway side of the lot and the backyard for another hunt, but I thought I'd check the small area between the driveway and a huge ole holly tree before calling it a day. It didn't take but a few sweeps of the coil before I got a sweet soft audio tone. Music to my ears. I popped a 1946 Rosie. Not to be a silver hog, I jumped in my car and headed for home and saved the rest for another day.
I can't imagine not having a Tesoro to swing. They're so much fun to use and work so well.
