Tesoro Cibola :tesoro::usaflag: Gold Football :detecting:

I decided to take my Cibola to work a grassy area at a site that's 75 years old. The same site that I've found over 20 silver coins in the last several hunts but I haven't worked the grassy strips next to the apartments. In the middle of the grassy area you can see where a old clothesline post used to be. Those are good to hunt around. I figured with people going to and from their cars crossing that grassy area that many years they had to lose some gold and silver. No doubt in my mind! I set the discrimination just high enough to knock out a foil cap but still be able to nail a tiny gold ring or earring. The area is loaded with trash but the Cibola ran quiet and smooth. The trick is to go really super slow and grid off at different angles. I managed to find a bunch of wheat pennies ( 1940, 1953, 1940, 1951, 1934, 1951, 1950 ). Finding them tells me that there's likely to be silver there as well. I'm surprised that I only found a couple of 1944 war nickels, because I know that there are a lot more silver coins there, I just need to keep digging the trash out of the way to get to them. I found a Case knife near the clothesline post. I pretty much know what happened, some guy left his knife in his pant's pocket and the knife fell out when the wife hung his pants on the clothesline. Towards the end of the hunt I got strong but smooth audio signal next to the curb and popped a 4.38 gram gold football pendant out of the ground. Now that put a big smile on my face. :) I have super high hopes of getting a big gold ring and some good silver coins out of there before I get through.

I just love my Tesoro detectors! They're so much fun to use.:detecting:

Tab that has to be the nicest sidewalk strip ever , its straight out of the past and unchanged , you paid your dues in trash, and got the TD way to go . I will have to try some sidewalks as well

Thanks. I always have my eyes peeled for locations where there's a grassy area where people get into and out of a car. Taking keys out of pockets, removing a coat and pulling gloves off of hands etc. will slip off a gold ring or drop a coin every once in awhile. :)

Thanks. I felt good and was in the zone today. I had a really good time swinging my Cibola. It's was calming to listen to those sweet tones.

100% certain. It's not next to a street, it's located between the parking area and backdoor. Years ago it was very common to have them there.

Thanks. I'm not sure how common it is, it's the first one that I've ever found.

Yeah, I can imagine!:) There's some good stuff hiding in that strip that a detector might not find. I'd like to dig it all out down to around 18 inches and screen it.

My calculations say that grassy strip has been crossed over at least 250,000 times. A lot of those times with keys coming out the pocket and hanging cloths.

Tesoro detectors with their fast recovery speed and being able work them slowly excel at these type locations.

***It's GOOD!****

Congrats on the lovely gold pendant and the war nickels!!! Looks like you have the perfect machine for the job!

Great job Tab on the war nickels and gold! Does the ground ever freeze down there?

Thanks. Our ground freezes a little every once in a while. When it happens we just hit the woods to do our detecting.

I found a 10K basketball pendant several years ago with my 1266. It was engraved " COACH 1923 VHS ". It's the only one I have found in over 32 years of detecting, so I'd guess they aren't commonly found items. Very nice find Tabman.
