I'm really liking this modded Cibola. You can see my settings in the picture below. I had the threshold set to a slight hum, the discrimination was set where Gatorade sports foil caps just break up, sensitivity was wide open, ground balance was set to a slight negative response. The Cibola was running quiet and smooth at those settings. I only detected for about 2 1/2 hours, because of the heat and lack of energy for some reason. I dug a few a rusty nails but that's because there were some good targets in the hole with them. A couple of them just fooled me though. I ended up finding three wheat pennies (1935, 1943, 1936), part of a silver necklace, a earring, a 1941 quarter, a 1917 mercury dime and a few clad coins. The silver necklace was about 3 inches deep and gave off a real soft but smooth audio response. I thought it might be a deep silver dime. I'm happy that the Cibola is sensitive to fine necklaces. Finding a silver dime and quarter in the same hole is a first for me. I did however find a couple of mercury dimes stuck together awhile back. Swinging a Tesoro is really fun because you just never know what you might pop out of the ground. Gold, silver or relic. It's all fun to find.

I really like the high tone tesoros but they're getting harder to come by. Either way, looks like your in the zone. hh

It's the regular tone one and I like it. Although I do wish that it was a little higher pitched, but not as high pitched as my Bandido II

Nice finds Gerald. Yeah, digging times are shorter these days. Good digs!:beers: HH jim tn

It's about time for a little rest. That heat day in and day out is taking its toll. In a little over a couple months or so Fall will be in the air and we'll be happy campers once again.

Nice finds Tabman, I envy your ability to find the silver coins the way you do. Were they very deep?

Tab keep in mind the grass and tree pollen is high, my dad is laid up . hit him so badd, and I can feel it to , 1st thing i gathered when you said you found both coins in the same hole ,is they got lost at the same time , and by looking at the quarter it is in very good condition almost no wear , probably lost in 1942 but the merc shows years of circulation looks like 25 years of circulation for the merc, it was nothing to have a 1917 merc or a 1916 in your pocket in the late 1940s and lose them both, to me this is the coolest part of your find for what it tells me . take a break and rest . you will soon get antsy, and be back out

The silver coins and wheat pennies were at most 5 inches deep. A little experience at a really good site will make just about anyone look good. Location, location, location.

Very nice finds tabman...you are really clicking with that modded Cibola. Keep up the good work, but dont overdo it in the heat....HH

Thats nice work for a couple hours!

Yeah, a guy has to sort of watch that heat...its way worse than being out in the cold..you should take a moment to find yourself an old swimming hole and hunt it until the Fall...I know of some pretty sweet locations up near the Ozarks on the south side, northern Arkansas which might make a nice little run for you, I havnt been there in 30yrs, and have never detected them, but can remember...cool clear water, not too far away, nice little weekend run for you...Or, come up here and chill a little, its a bit more of a drive, but I gotta place...
Mud.

Those were my same exact thoughts. Even back in the sixty's you'd find a mercury dime in your change. It didn't happen very often, but it happened. I can remember back in the mid fifty's my parents showing me a buffalo nickel that they had found in their change. They told me, that's a Indian, do you know what animal that is on the other side? I said a big ole bull. I guess that's why today I love finding Buffalo Nickels.:)

Nice finds Tab! Do you have to drive far to keep finding these sweet spots?

Not far, maybe 20 minutes or so. I find the best spots for finding silver coins are those that don't get a lot of exposure but have been there for a long while. They're not that trashy and the coins that I find at those type locations are usually pretty old. My favorite place to detect for jewelry and sometimes coins if its a older area is where there's a curb, a five foot grassy area and then a sidewalk where street parking is allowed. When a passenger gets into and out of a car the door is hanging over the grassy area. Sooner or later they're going to drop some nice jewelry into the grass that they can't find.
