Tesoro Category?

davidtn

New member
A long time forum member here who has primarily used Whites and now that I'm interested in a Tesoro I don't see a forum category for it? Perhaps my eyes need checking and I just can't find it.

Thanks

Thanks although it would make sense for it to have its own category just like the 72 other types have :geek:

Hello.

If you hit the link to the forum on their (Teosrso) homepage you will be directed to the "beep & dig detecting forum".

Sponsoring or not... they use THIS as their feedback site.

You'll find tons of informations here and great help from experienced users.

Have a good time here.

There are some other active Tesoro forums out there that Tesoro doesn't have linked on their site. A simple web search will find 'em, and they too, store great Tesoro info. While I don't know, I sort of doubt Tesoro has to pay them anything...

Tesoro still makes very good detectors and even though they're now "long in tooth" (old fashioned design), they do work well. People rarely have anything negative to say about Tesoro's detectors once they're outside using them. The most common complaint about Tesoro as a company, is their lack of new models... I (mostly) prefer and use their older models anyway.

Everyone has their favorites. My favorite today, is a 10 turn GB modded Bandido II μMAX with 5.75" coil... That Tesoro is now nearly 20 years old, and out of more than a dozen or so Tesoros I have, it's the one I'm using this afternoon.

What happened to the Outlaw?

Appears Tesoro did not want to sponsor a forum any more!
Yeah, appears Tesoro does not want do anything on social media. I always suggest Tesoro detectors in Facebook groups. But, when they go to their FB page and they have not made a post, comment, like or anything since 2014. It does give a negative impression for future customers and the company itself. That's just the plain a simple fact, whether some accept it or not. However, they do make good detectors and have great service.

Love their products but let's face it...they are a company of Luddites.

I had to look up the definition for Luddites. Luddite "a person opposed to increased industrialization or new technology."

I am not sure if the most of new technologies are such a large improvement, but then again I am known for hating change. So in that regards I am good.

I don't get along with digital processing. For me it changes the quality of the sounds too much for my comfort. I don't appreciate VCO pinpointing, preferring the detuning that used to be the standard. Of course with Tesoro's I don't need even that since they pinpoint well just Xing the target.

But again I am the fellow that hates change - I don't even have a cell phone. So I may be the perfect example of a luddite!

Ha!

For me their current technology is just fine and dandy.
Where they are lacking is their resistance to use current technology to spread their message.

They didn't change their stone age website for years and when they finally did it wasn't much of an upgrade.

Engaging their current and loyal customers on social media sites is pitiful...they aren't even trying.
Like they never noticed how other modern companies have used these platforms to great advantage and expanded their brand awareness and increased sales.

Even sending them an email can be unsuccessful if you expect a timely reply...they do answer the phone if you call, however.
I suspect all the phones in their headquarters are still the big old black ones with the dials.

This is what they do and how they have always done it which is their option but I think they are missing opportunities.

Their old world ideas and attitudes are actually kind of charming in this day and age but will continuing down this path in the 21st century keep them relevant and solvent?
Time will tell.

I agree with everything you said, Except the bit about big old black phones with the dials. Just kidding. Even I am not that much of a Luddite.

I loved those phones.
Something about the tactile experience sticking your finger in the hole and spinning the dial.
The sound going one way then coming back...both of these this newer generation hasn't experienced and never will.
No dropped calls, even in a power blackout they always worked.
Ugly in a beautiful sort of old world vintage way.
Plus they were heavy, grab one and walk around while talking on it you got exercise and if someone broke into your house they could be weaponized.

One more thing...
When these were in use most of us had little books next to it in all shapes and sizes with every important phone number we ever needed written down in them neatly listed alphabetically.
On top of that we had dozens of numbers memorized of all our family and friends which was completely normal at the time.

It's different now with cell phones.
I broke mine and couldn't call one person I knew because I didn't memorize anybody's numbers...not one.
Modern technology makes us lazy sometimes.

Could not agree more. When people give a good or bad review about a product, it's not hard to acknowledge them instead of ignoring them. Communication is always the best in dealing with new and current customers. We will see when or if this supposed new machine comes out how vibrant Tesoro is. If it is just going to be a makeover of an existing model after all this time, again. Then we will know that "junior" is not interested and or capable of moving the company forward and that will be a shame.

Lucky! That's the life.. :bouncy:

You know, there has to be at least a little Luddite in all of us who seek old treasure... Romance with the past for me. The future can be a scary place...:yikes:

That wasn't Jenny ,that was my wife and she knew every phone number in Valdez, course there wasn't very many.
