Tesoro: Blazing Fast Recovery Speed

I liked to have flipped out when I compared these two videos. I always knew that my Tesoro detectors were lightening fast, because when I lay a long row of trash and coins about 2 inches apart and run a coil down the row, it sounds like a Gatling gun going off. What I didn't know was that there are detectors that have a super slow recovery speed. You could pass over a whole lot of good targets with a recovery speed that slow.

It's almost hilarious!
That's actually what sold me on the Cibola. (modded)
Not enough is said about the benefit of super fast recovery speed. I think that in the right hands, the C & V can kick butt on just about anything out there, in any conditions.
That guy does a bunch of vids on a BUNCH of REALLY slow, REALLY expensive detectors.
Hats of to :tesoro: for getting that kind of speed into some very affordable detectors!

No doubt the Tesoro has a fast recovery but the trouble with videos is the opposing detector in any test can be set to operate poorly (or the best). Having used the DFX for 10 years, his test was clearly bogus to me even though he SAID they were factory programs. One obvious operator error is that he did not ground balance the DFX before each test. We don't know where he had the adjustable recovery speed set at...... adjustable from 1 to 40, very slow to very fast. I do not believe in any tests that others have done.

Very nice video!

Seems to be that everyone loves their Vaquero.

I had other machines as well and at times I felt like I was
carrying a brick around.

I also love the fact that the Tesoro's ar nice and light!

Happy Hunting!

yeah,,thing is larry,,that some machines are slower than others,,THE WHITES XLT I HAD WAS A LOT SLOWER THAN MY VAQ,,BUT SO WAS THE SOV. G.T. and also a lot heavier ,,and if you are in an area with lots of small iron etc. these machines just dont see the target as well as the Tesoro,,they just dont,,,, THERE USED TO BE A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RECOVERY SPEED AND DEPTH,,THE FASTER YOU GO THE LESS DEPTH NORMALLY, but advances in tech. means that you can get speed and depth usin a higher frequency machine which picks up the smallest of coins or gold nuggetts from amongst the iron,,TESORO have built these machines long before anyone else,,great discrim,,and fast performance,,,i like the whites machines and minelab,,but Tesoro are just the tool for finding the hammered coins in amongst the crap here in England ,,,,you just cant beat a TESORO for performance AND depth on small VALUABLE targets,,,and in addition to all this ,,they are uncomplicated and reliable,,,ive said it myself a few years ago that this simple machine cant be as good as brand x, because it dont have a screen and a dashboard of controls,,,now i bet theres a whole bunch of us made that mistake,,, not any more,,,,dont fight it,,,Tesoro rocks,!!!! :ukflag:

I agree with everything you say comcat, I am not anti Tesoro, I love my modded Cibola for the very reasons you state. The point I was making is that bogus videos/reviews serves no purpose other than to deceive those who don't know better. I see no purpose of the DFX video being in this post, the "V" video alone would have said it all.

I discourage the use of any post that belittles any of our Findmall sponsors products and I delete the ones that are obviously flagrant. Letting this post stand was a judgement call.

The comparison is educational. The use of factory programs may not be what they're all cranked up to be. I don't think the guy doing the video was trying to make the DFX look bad. I think he was trying his best to promote it. Maybe someone can do a video with the DFX with the proper settings to demonstrate its blazing speed.

I have to agree with Larry. Unless we know for certain how a machine is set up, it's hard to tell whether a test is really valid or not. As far as recovery/retune speed, I've pedaled two different detectors because they were too slow in my opinion. I might not have thought that, if I hadn't started with Tesoros. Every Tesoro I've swung has a very quick recovery speed and that's part of the reason they're so easy to pinpoint with as well.

Hi Larry,
The video age is here. Biased or un-biased, clueless or knowledgeble, they are going to get made and viewed and some people are going to feel good and some are going to be outraged at the fraud.

Easier to just not look at them. Since I have no money invested in a particular metal detector mfg stock, I find it easier to just not watch them anymore.

I really don't understand all of this halabaloo about recovery speed in the first place. A fast recovery speed is one of Tesoro's strongest selling points and most of us use a Tesoro for that very reason, fast and light weight too. Trash hunting and competition hunting, it is the Cibola for me.

There are also advantages to using a detector with snail slow recovery speeds and that is why I use a Minelab SE Pro for deep silver and copper hunting.

The most versatile of detectors will have user selectable recovery speeds like the White's V3i, my main hunting machine.

Sure fast recovery is nice when you need it and not so nice when you don't.

I agree Mike, as a user I don't bother but as a Moderator, I'm suppost to at least check them out. :ninja:
