I just got a Bandido micro max detector (not a Bandido II) and was curious if it was supposed to have a lower stem locking nut on it. Mine doesn't have a lower locking nut and there is some wobble to the lower stem. Could someone check their detector and tell me if it has the locking nut on the lower stem or not? Thanks.................Roger
Don't know for sure, but I've never seen a Tesoro without the locking nut. I had a Garret that didn't have the locking nut, but the fit was snug enough that it wasn't missed. Hopefully someone familiar with the older machines will jump in on this.

Joe, My Bandido micromax has a three piece setup: the s rod that mounts the box and armrest, the middle rod and a lower rod that mounts the coil. It has a lock ring where the s rod and middle rod come together right beside the coil connector on the box. The lower rod is adjustable with only snap clips. I know this is original as I bought it new.
Mainer, that is what I have... s rod, middle rod, and lower rod with the coil. I took the detector out for a short hunt and didn't really feel the wobble of the lower stem but if you grab the coil it has some movement side to side. I might try my Silver umax rods and see if they mount up ok on the bandido....if so I will order new rods from tesoro to replace the old rods. Thanks for the heads up on the bandido............Roger
Roger, I took the wobble out of mine by putting teflon plumbers tape on the threads and tightening the locknut up. Solved the problem. Where does yours seem to be loose? Steve
On my Bandido it has wobble on the lower fiberglass stem. A lock nut on the lower shaft would take care of the problem. The upper rod that hooks to the s rod is fine and tightens up nice and solid.
I hunted with the Bandido today for a couple of hours and it wasn't really a problem but I would prefer a more solid lower stem........Roger
Roger, My Bandido micromax has a metal lower rod with a brown isolator for the coil. This is the way it came from Tesoro new. I don't know if there was a running production change or not, but maybe someone has changed the lower rod on yours. Do you have anyway to try a metal lower rod on it? Steve
