Tesoro Bandido II

What are the odds? I found this old brass key in the front yard of the old house that I've been detecting. The house was built in the 1830's. The owner of the house was there and he said lets see if it fits the lock that in the display cabinet? Sure enough it fits and works the lock perfectly. After I took some pictures I gave the brass key to the owner of the house so he would have a match set. I was using the 8 inch doughnut coil, running with minimum discrimination. The key wasn't about 4 inches deep.

I was thinking just last week how nice it would to be to find a old skeleton key. I need to get to thinking about finding some ole silver.:)

Nice find Tabman. I'm sure the owner was happy too.

Yeah he sure was. I learned today that he and his family own a farm that once was a huge plantation that had a big plantation home built on it that recently burned.

It pays to be nice.:)

Wow, permission to hunt there would be worth a lot more than an old brass key!

nice find Tab, and i bet it would not be hard to pick a lock like that in the day, but it probably kept kids out . thanks for the interesting pictures

Good job on that key. Made someone very happy and maybe got you a new place to hunt. I like the story... KEN

All you gotta do is turn that key one more time to unlock that plantation for you? It sure does pay to be nice, and it could pay YOU nicely to remind him of your niceness! Oh, nice key!

That's cool Tabman, we hit keys all the time but not one that old and with someone who still has the lock!
