Tesoro Bandido II uMax Deal or No Deal ?:detecting:

I spied a like new Tesoro Bandido II uMax for $175, seems like a nice deal and I hear great things about the Tesoros.

What do you Tesoro fans think ?

I got one right after they came out. Darn good detector, found a Civil War era U.S. bridle rossette about 10 inches deep the first time I used it:). In like new condition $175 is a heckuva deal.

Buy it, because it has a 'fluent" sounding name. It ain't a TAYHAWNNNNN.

I recently pick one up, not uMax but the Bandido-II. I paid just a tad higher, but it was never put into action till I got it. So now it has one short test hunt so far. The coil has enough cord to hip mount if desired.
I just couldn't pass up the deal knowing all the good things I hear about Tesoro. I already had 5 Tesoro's but didn't have any older classics no longer in production. So this classic caught my interest - and how about the Frito Bandido dude on the side
I'm glad to see positive replies since I already snagged it. The uMax series must have a weight/balance advantage, and if its anything like or improved from the Bandido-II, and for the price, I think it's a great deal.
This is the Bandido-II, I believe the production just prior to the Bandido uMax.

I remember the frito bandito... Everyone liked him!
Then things got all politically correct and took a lot of fun out of things...

Then there was those lions and tigers running and chasing around that tree 'til they turned to nice warm butter you could put on your pancakes...

I guess things are better now.

Thanks for all the feedback, looks like a golden oldie! I've been wanting to test out a Tesoro.

Is the Bandido II uMax a single tone, or multi-tone MD ? Will all of the uMax search coils work on this ? Any chance this unit will work on wet salt beaches OK ?

tab-nabit from what I've been reading it's pretty much the same machine as the non-uMax machine, just
