Tesoro and after market brand coil questions.

What S.E.F "butterfly" coil will work with an outlaw and a vaquero.
Do they both use the same S.E.F butterfly coil?
Also. When Tesoro advertises some of their coils as widescan, does that mean it is a double D coil?

Thanks in advance
Jason

Widescan's are DD's

I'm not sure about the after market coils, I do know that the Tejon and the Vaquero uses the same coil, regardless of brand.

Sorry, the Outlaw and Vaquero don't share coils reguardless of brand. Widescan is same as DD.

I've read both good and bad about after market, non-manufacturer coils pertaining to several detector brands. There are those that swear by them and those that swear at them. My own opinion is unless there is an after market coil that fits a need the manufacturer's coils don't cover, I'll stay with same brand coils. The makers know their machines and capablilities the best in my opinion.

If you have the extra cash, spend away, try an aftermarket coil. Then continue the hype so you can recoup the money you spent on it.
Shame some truths are never known......................

Will say, some may get a tad more depth, may make the detector more unstable and full sensitivity unusable.
So look at the aftermarket claimed added depth at 75% sensitivity over the same size stock coil at 75%. Whipee, crank up the sensitivity on the stock coil to 80-100%
and you get the same depth as the aftermarket coil. Just remember past 75% sensitivity the aftermarket coil may not be usable or show no marked improvement.

The only aftermarket coils I have faith in are made by Coiltek/ Sunray. If they don't have a coil made for Tesoros, good indication
that Tesoro coils are hard to improve upon.

Thanks for the replies.
I can tell some are offended that I dare consider using anything but a Tesoro coil on an outlaw or a vaquero.
I have my reasons for knowing that the SEF coils are amazing, and I am sure you have your reasons for thinking they are a waste of money.
Putting that aside does anyone know if an SEF coil is available for the Outlaw.
I know there is one for a vaquero.

Thanks again in advance.

There is no magic bullet for a coil and most of the claims are shear BS. A coil is just that, a coil, x number of turns depending on freq. and size. Yea they can arrange it differently to shape the field differently, but that is about it. No magic, all hype. I doubt that any aftermarket coil will be any better than the stock DD and concentric offerings. It's your money, but in my opinion you would be wasting it on false claims and hype. As stated the only coil I would consider aftermarket would be the Coiltek and I would have to see the improvement first hand to even consider it.

Check on Kellyco and see if they list what you're looking for.
