Terrible Merc. and Key spill !!?

Finished up a lot i've been working on today and found this poor Merc and a bunch of keys that were in an area of about 6 inches by 12 inches. They were right next to a concrete flower planter right up next to an older house in the front yard . They are all cut for different locks so i have no idea what the heck they were doing there. Solver is silver!!! Loose keys maybe in a bowl and got spilled? Along with the dime???

I found the dime on the same lot I found the seated Liberty quarter. The keys were found on a different lot. Jim

Why would anybody lose so many keys together, all in one place? Why would they be carrying so many keys "loose", and not on a ring of some kind?

Don't think they lost them. Almost like they put them there as they were so close together. My thoughts exactly. Jim
