Terra coils

I have been having such a good time with the stock coil 7.5 kHz that Iam apprehensive about using my virgin 18 kHz one for the first time tomorrow.
The only thing making me wanting too is that its a ploughed ,rolled and seeded piece of land.Jerry.

Hi Jerry.
would be interested of your views after you have used the 18 khz coil; i am getting such good results also from the standard coil. i have a club dig tomorrow so what i might do is start the day with the standard and change over when i stop for coffee after about two hours,
but who knows only will tell.
Pete

went out today(sunday) had such good results with the standerd coil never got round to using the 18 khz. have to say i am finding the x-terra 50 a real little gem.

don't know if they are ready for sale to the public, I used one that was given to a field tester. If your hunting for raw gold it can see tiny gold that the standard coil could not see. This thread size chain gave a response an inch away no more with the 18khz but nothing with the 7khz. I am saving my money for the small coil coming out in Spring time.

Well I used both coils today.

The 7kHz is my favourite for general detecting and this pictured George III card Half Guinea came out at 12".

The 18kHz was a tad more noisy but once I dropped the sensitivity a bit it settled down and a few modern day coins came out.

I think it will be ok for plowed and rolled fields but the 7 kHz also found a George II farthing from 25o years back and a brass thimble from the same era at only 6".

I think its a case of watch this space as over the years I have used many detectors and I have always been a Explorer fanatic but this Terra 50 has really turned me on.Jerry.

that there is little difference between the two coils, if that's the case, why bother buying the 18.75khz, that would be a waste of money? I do plan on buying the 6" 7.5 coil when it comes out. John

went back to a field which over the last fifteen years have done to death with many makes of detectors(including the explorer 2)to give the 18 khz coil a run out, was i in for a surprise after about two and half hours making sure i kept every none ferrous i found there were sixty three finds in my pouch, depths on some were shallow but with that amount i can put up with although i only kept about ten percent of what i found, did find i had to back off on the sensitivity a bit ran it at fourteen.
to add that to the results i am having with the standard coil makes this an awesome machine to me
