Terra 70 prospecting mode ?

I noticed that in the prospecting mode u can wave your hand back and forth close to the coil with no metal object and get a noticable change in tone. I'ts like it detects flesh and bone. LOL..
Any reason for this ?

That is funny... But i really want to know why this phenomena occurs ? Someone give it a try with your 70 and see if u get the same results. Just wondering if it is my detector.

Thanks Jerry

why when testing small targets like gold earring studs or fine gold chains you should scotch tape them to a paint stick or wooden ruler. My best guess is that the reaction is caused by your blood. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm willing to bet if you GB to the ground/soil and place your hand on the soil it won't react to your hand as the ground noise will swamp the signal from your hand. But it just goes to show how sensitive that mode is on the X70.

So consider this carefully, the X70 IS detecting weak targets in the ground but not necessarily reporting them as it cannot dig the signal out of the noise. This is the most challenging aspect of detector design, the receive side. I make it a practice to always noise cancel before detecting with an X-machine, because it appears to me to improve performance even if in a secluded area with no nearby EMI. And if the day brings a significant temperature change I will NC again.

salts in your body. Honestly, some folks will display a greater response than others, depending upon their healthy make-up.

It's not the blood or the iron in the blood, or the bone or skin, as such, but a response to the very low-conductive wet salty nature of your chemical make-up.

and it's one of those things that I addressed with a few engineers about 15-20 years ago. Capacitance? You have to figure that the salt's and such in our chemical make-up create what you're referring to.

It was a generalized answer to shy away from technical jargon and 'fluff' that sometimes gets tossed around regarding various topics relating to this hobby.
