I'm so blessed:

1. It was gorgeous in Tenn today.

2. I had 5 hours to detect.

3. This makes 2 1/2 buckles for me in the last 10 days....

the 2nd group is from the retreat route between Franklin and Thompson station...

The 2 frames and the round iron ring and the 9 brass finials with leather in the same hole...any ideas on that one?

HH,
brad

Its horse equipment for sure. Kinda reminds me of a late war federal halter when they started using rivets to add more strength other than just the thread. Id have to look at my reproduction to tell you what your missing.

:)Yep, I'd have to agree with Vabill on the horse harness bits, found a few myself lately, in the dirt road on an old township. Nice bits and pieces Brad!

Hi bradgtr1, I come across a find in W/E Treasures Vol 40 April 2006.
It has a picture of a confederate belt plate (CS stamped on it) similar to the half one in your pic. I don't know much about these buckles, as I'm in Canada, but it may be worth looking into. Hopefully you can find a complete one.
The one in the magazine was valued at $20,000 US.

Still you have some nice finds, good hunting.

Dave..
Haha..Thanks for the shout out. I think it's pretty safe to say mine is an early war "puppy paw" US. TO my knowledge there are no CS marked lead filled plates with this type of hooks. I suspect the mississippi troops that were camping where I found it, chopped it into when they were issued CS buckles...For some reasons they had ill feelings torward the north.:)

HH,

You'll find these items on a number of tack items used by the cavalry and teamsters (wagon trains). Nice finds Brad!
