Ten pound boots

Larry (IL)

Well-known member
With the temperature at 49 this afternoon, I thought I would give field hunting another go............. tough hunting...........:ranting: The top couple of inches were thawed and the next 5 inches were ice but the exhausting walk through the mud had its reward in the end. 1851-O Half dime.......

Good save on the Half Dime. That one is still on my bucket list. That's either true dedication to the hobby or a bad case of cabin fever. It was tempting to try my luck yesterday but I hate chipping away at frozen soil.

BIG congrats Larry. When I asked him, "How'd you do?" I sure didn't expect him to say "I got a little silver". She's a beauty too! I think that one had my name on it though. Mud and all, it's a keeper! :cheekkiss:

I think it was a combination of both Daryl plus a little voice has been telling me to get back to there. What saved me digging in the ice was the Predator Raven.... what a weapon...

Very cool! That digging tool is sweet. I'm looking to get one or something similar next season. Just gotta get past the price tag first. Hard to explain to the wife why you spent so much on a tiny shovel. Lol. Nice work again Larry!

They are expensive for sure but if you have a bench grinder and some other metalworking tools, you can make your own version that would serve you well. I have read some posts how one can buy garden spades or specialty shovels for a few bucks at auctions or second hand stores and you can fabricate your own relic shovel for little more than your time invested........

I found one of the posts............. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?22,1898680,1899331#msg-1899331

Maybe you wife can get you one for your birthday??? That's how Larry got his Pradator, it was a gift. Larry said they're a lot more expensive now though.
