Temperature and sovereign performance

I'm not sure if It's me, but has anyone noticed a change in performance with temperature/humidity levels? I'm sure as with any electronic device that extreme temperatures cause behavior issues, but since the crisp cool days of fall have begun, I seem to be finding more. It would appear that my sovereign has less" erratic behavior" and increased steady target identification. Almost like a four barrel 350 Chevy engine on a cold day! She just wants to run. Also would battery performance be effected as well? Anyone else notice any different behavior with the weather?

Over the years the Fall and early Spring have always produced more finds with my GT at least in fields and meadows and woods and much deeper , when the soil is bone dry and hard as a rock that is when i hit the beaches , right now the soil is damp if not wet that is the key for a Sovereign to work at it,s best it loves wet soil and sand now is the time to get out and hunt , i dont get into all that EMI crap just swing the coil find and dig .HH Jim

I also feel like the GT run's smoother in cooler weather. But for sure spring and usually the fall has the most moisture in the ground which is alway's good. Most of my better stuff has come from early in the year and late in the year. I agree with deepdiger just go swing the coil and dig.

i agree also, fall and early spring give best performance........ in my opinion it is because the soil moisture levels stay more consistant through out the entire depth of the topsoil layer.....

Is the soil moisture thing I bet like they said. In my soil ideal moisture content makes a huge difference in depth dealing with the mineralization.

I've read of guys who believe that when a thunderstorm is in the distance they think they get better depth due to the air being ionized and creating a larger halo around the coin. Is that true? I think it could be maybe. That's what moisture does too- it makes the halo get more conductive to the surrounding soil and makes the coin give off a stronger signal at depth.

I remember they used to sell a box with two probes you stuck in the ground say 20 feet apart or so, and then you cranked a lever on the box like energizing an old military field phone. Supposedly that's were the idea came from for one specifically for detecting, because the rumor was that some guys were using old hand crank generators to ionize the ground and gain depth.

Far as I know that device never worked. Never heard any field reports from people who said they had positive results with it. I doubt you can ionize the ground enough with a hand crank generator to do anything. A thunderstorm ionizing the air though? I could see that being a real possibility maybe.

PS- I don't know about anybody else, but I've found that too wet of soil starts to make the depth suffer. If I dig a hole and it starts to fill with water I don't seem to get as deep of signals as I do when the ground is just very moist. Maybe the heavy amounts of water sitting in the soil start to wash out the halo effect?
