Hello Everyone, I'm looking around for a good back-up/loaner detector and its come down to two, the Garrett ace 250 and the minelab x - terra 30 So whats the better one to pick and can you tell me why?? Thanks! .. Josey

Price and performance. Its a tosup.

Tesoro Silver will out do both thoes.

But no TID for those who can't hear good.

The xt 30 is about 170.00 more $. But it does have volume control, shaft locks, large concentric coil that's easier for beginners to PP with and a very larger TID.

The 250 has the notches labeled for US coins and trash that may be easier for a beginner to catch on. Also the 4 inch sniper coil is a plus.

They are both east to run.

Between these two with the price and the intended use of the machine considered I would recommend the 250.

Since the 250 has been about the best seller out there for the past couple of years or so the choice should be a simple one. I have eight detectors, several high dollar ones, and I hunt mostly with the 250. I field tested the prototype and the production model for Garrett so I may be a bit partial. :) It's just a great little machine and gets the job done with no fuss.
