Greetings friends: I hope you are finding cool treasure. As some of you know, I have been looking for a cache hunting machine. I enjoy coin shooting now and then, too. I'm doing research to find a lost cache in my area. I find that coin shooting is easier than trying to find a cache. With coin shooting, you just need to find an area that might be good, and swing away. With cache hunting, there is a lot more research that is needed. You can't just pick a remote island somewhere, and hope to be very successful in finding a cache.
I had a Minelab Soveriegn. I didn't care for it. I thought the digital display was next to useless. I guess all displays are pretty useless after a certain depth down. I still like the analog needles the best.
I don't have a detector yet. I have been asking around, and looking into different machines that might be good for me.
I got quite a few recommendations to get a Garrett (Grand)(I don't think they call it "Grand" anymore) Master Hunter. I would probably use the all metal mode for cache hunting, as these caches tend to be quite deep, I gather. I guess the Master Hunter goes pretty deep in all metal mode.
I think one big plus for getting the Garrett (Grand) Master Hunter is that I should be able to get one pretty cheap.
But you know, I just can't get that excited about the Master Hunter. It
looks kind of dorky, has no uppper arm rest, only has a 8.5 inch eliptical coil (I suppose I could shell out more moola for a DD). To me the Master Hunter may of been a nice little unit in its time, but I think it kinda obsolete now. I guess this is why I could get one on the cheap!
And then I started looking into the T2. I am impressed with the manual.
I know the T2 has its limitations, but the T2 seems to be a very fair value for the money. The manual states that it has a depth of two feet in all metal mode, and even deeper when the Pin pointing trigger is used. So that's not too bad.
By the way, I don't really want to get a two box because I couldn't do any coin shooting with a 2-box, and also, a two box would not be very convenient to use in the woods.
The T2 seems to have quite a few features. I like the, what is it, 11.5 inch DD coil, too. The T2 seems to be on the cutting edge of design.
I do have have one question, though. You know about this "new" software update, what is it, the R6? I thought it was a continuos audio mode, but after reading your posts, I take it the R6 is a dual audio mode. Am I right about this? I know that in all metal mode I might not be able to use this new update feature. But in descrim mode I could, if I was coin shooting. What is this R6 about, and why is it an improvement? If my memory serves me correctly, the T2 has about four different audio modes to start with.
I think I might get one if I can ever get the money. I'm as poor as a church mouse during lent right now.
Sounds like you guys (and gals) are having a lot of fun with your T2's! And that's really what it's all about, right? Keep on rocking... Kevin
