teknetics T2 Upgrades-- FA Process

Hey guys,
I was told that for the T2 upgrade the new FA process was actually a brand new faster processor installed. Is that correct or is it just software on that part? And can anyone who has the upgrade tell any difference in target separation since the upgrade? And how are the new ferrous tones? Thanks for any help and have a great day.

Frank

Hey Frank, I'll try to help you a bit from what I've learned. I didn't have my T2 se upgraded. Didn't want to part with it long enough to have it done. Besides that,I loved it the way it was and still do.But I did purchase a new T2 with the upgrade to have as a companion for my old one. I'm sure what I tell you here applies to the T2 that has been sent back and received the new upgrade. The FA mode is a process all it's own. It does not affect any other mode as far as separation goes. It is an extremely fast mode. It separates non ferrous from ferrous it a split second. You have to listen fast. It's just doesn't have anywhere near the depth as the other modes. And despite the digital shielding it suffers from emi, but the instruction manual states that fact. There is no difference in target separation from the non upgrade to the upgrade in other modes, but if I feel the need in certain situations for a little better separation, just switch it to FA, problem solved. The new ferrous tones are awesome. Being able to quiet down the iron volume or even to eliminate it without discriminating it out with sensitivity crank way up, especially with a detector as powerful as the T2, is making my old spots new again. With the upgrade on this machine First Texas has made one awesome detector a bit better.

The FA mode as I understand it shortens the audio response to a very SHORT tone, doing this helps to reduce close target overlap and increases target separation.
Now I have no idea how they did this?

I have the Upgraded T2 SE and so far have no used the FA mode but have used the Fc Iron mute mode.Very effective. I can place a small 2CM Roman coin in between two rusty nails set 2 " each side of the coin and still get the coin ! Also setting a large Sestertius Roman coin right under a large Roman rusty nail I still get the coin at depth in air.No that is impressive.

Thanks for the information guys I appreciate it. Sounds like the upgrades are a great thing to have especially the FA process if your in a heavy trash area. And having the DST would be nice, as any emi reduction is good. Thanks again and keep on diggin:)
