TEKNETIC'S T2 Questions about advertising?

KCK

New member
Sorry for so many questions but hey when you research something before you spend 800.00 you want to be sure.

The question that keeps popping in my mind is:

Is this pic in the ad the actial style of the Teknetic's T2 your selling? heck I've seen Ribbed Cuffs, and smooth cuffs?
Which one is it?

Does it have a plastic cuff with ribs?
Or does it have a metal cuff with no ribs?
I've seen both and this really confuses me. Some say that there are two different detectors on the market and the first release has some issues?

What is the release date of the detector you are selling or bought?

On some ads it states 30 hour battery life, other ads are stating 40 hours battery life?
Again...Are there more than one release out of this detector on the market at the same time?

I love Teknetic's don't get me wrong...but the marketing is leaving a lot to be desired! Also I called to get info from the 1-800- number. People this gal had no idea of what she was doing! So again I have questions.

Any thing you can ad to explain my concerns would be appreciated!

Flat cuff and about 25- 30 hours on a set of batteries, but have not burned up a full set yet. I think all new T2's would be from a February release if thats what your asking? And if you call BH you have to be specific about what dept you want to talk to. First Texas which is Teknentics and Bounty Hunter, but they also have Night Owl Optics for night vision scopes.

To put sort of a face to the dilemma, apparently Cabela's, the first place to receive the T2 (again a possible bad marketing call) got early "white box" units. There were very few graphics on the inner box. I guess the coil on these might be different and perhaps it has the non-adjustable arm brace. Search in the early posts here, I just recall the Cabela's "white box" T2's as being the ones to watch out for. I have no idea if this was the only place getting these units, how many there were, and if it's been rectified to any degree.

The current version comes in a box with full printed graphics and will have the "correct" coil and the metal, bendable armrest.

I'd say if someone gets stuck with one of these alledged faulty units, it would be made right by FT. Just my impression, as the company does have a rep of treating customers right.

I think BH/FT/Tek needs a presence on the forums in more than a lurking capacity. They could specify the current state and be more proactive. At least post an "official" reply to questions such as these. Maybe through a third party, such as Mr. Bill or Jeff.

It's kinda funny in a way. Other detector makers promote the slightest change to a machine as a radical upgrade and designate it with a new incremental model number. Or just change the graphics and give it a new model designation. First Texas, on the other hand, will just put it out there with no fanfare. There were 4, maybe even 5 revisions to the Time Ranger, as one example. In that case, apparently the latest one is not the greatest one, but the very first had a few issues too.

In other BH models, you can follow the progress, as in the Tracker line, now the Tracker IV, but there was a Tracker I to begin with. No such model revision path to note on the Time Ranger, unless you've followed it over the years as I have.

Just my reflections on what I think is a sort of odd "public personna" for a corporation to have, with so many end users. It might be a stance generated by the sheer volume of units they must ship. To do it right would require a whole new section. As it stands, individual dealers and owners are left to defend the company or not.

But look at it ths way, too. When you do reach the correct person, you are talking to someone deeply involved or maybe even the designer of the machine. Try doing that about anywhere else!

I do know that either Mr. Bill or Jeff will go to bat for you if there's a problem.
