teknetics service verus garrett

My eurotek pro's pinpointer was not functioning properly. It would not stay on a target without stopping and having to try to zero in over and over. I had to send it back at my own expense. I called teknetics to find out when it was going to be shipped back. The person i spoke with was rude and gave me grief over not sending the sales receipt and told me if i did it again they were going to charge me for the repair. If they would have just called me i would have faxed them a copy.

I recently bought a garrett at pro pinpointer. After about a month the on/off/adjustment button went out and i called them and they sent me a new one with a prepaid postaged envelope to send the broken one back.

The garrett service was excellent and the teknetics was terrible. I still like my euro tek pro but my next purchase will be a garrett detector. Good customer service means a lot to me.

I sent a similar message to fisher labs. I doubt it will do any good but i will never buy a detector made by fisher. Great customer service keeps a faithful customer base and bad customer service drives you to another brand.

you must have caught someone on a bad day because thats not typical first texas service.

In my work as an awrospace. User, I deal a lot with warranties and it can often be a source of frustration. One important thing is to carefully read the terms of the warranty before making a claim.

As far as needing the sales receipt, the warranty on the last page of your users manual clearly states that you need to get a return authorization number before sending the unit in and that your Proof of Purchase (sales receipt) must be included. One reason for this is that the warranty is only to the original purchaser of the new unit - it is not transferrable. I'm assuming you bought the unit new from an authorized dealer.

Of course if the person you talked to was rude, that's not good. I have been treated with courtesy both time I had to deal with First Texas Customer Service. Hopefully you have made Teknetics aware of your problem including the time and date of your phone call and who you talked to. An email to the attention of the Sales Manager, usually gets to the right place.

Have you gotten the repaired or replaced Eurotek back yet? Hope all this works out for you in the end.

As far as your experience with Garrett, their service, like First Texas and Whites has an excellent reputation. Most detector companies will pay return postage for items which fail within a month or so of purchase. After that, the terms of the warranty state that the owner is required to pay for the shipment to the maker, they pay the return shipment. I recently had to send in a Minelab detector for warranty replacement and was told that since it was more than one month old, I would have to pay the shipping to them.

I have got to turn off the autocorrect in my iPad.

The first sentence of the above post should read "aerospace buyer". Sorry about that.

I've had great service from First Texas. Not so good from Garrett. I feel pretty much the same as you. The difference is that I won't buy Garrett anymore.

i had to send a garrett product in and they fixed it and it broke again. after that im done dont even want another. the way i see it is their service better be good because they break more than any other company i have bought from.
