TEKNETICS MARK 1 QUESTION

What is the difference between the gray box Tek and the red box Tek..I was thinking of buying either the IDX Pro or a Mark 1..What do you think...

On the Tekentics Mark 1 red housing the analog meter shows (zinc) penny on the meter face while the gray housing type doesn't have (zinc) penny on the meter panel.

That is the only difference between the two, Really doesn't matter as zinc penny always hits on the same particular area on both analog meters.

I prefer the Mark 1 over the IDX Pro, Faster recovery speed and more depth. Plus, Love the Mark 1 tones :)

Get the Mk-1 and find the extra original wafer 10" coil.
You will love it-except its the old configuration that wears out your arm.

I would get the IDX Pro the Tecknetics is large heavy IDs very well poor depth uses lots of batteries.I had one of the refurbish models the balance was so bad it felt like carrying a small suit case. Most of the recovered targets were in the plugs in my ground not very deep.More of a novelty too obsolete compared with current detectors.

Ron I totally disagree. The Mark 1 (which I am using by the way) is one of the best detectors ever made and I routinely hold my own against the new detectors in the hunts. Yes it's heavy but it goes pretty deep. I pull coins at 8+ inches and now I have added a Bounty Hunter 10" coil for even more depth.
