Teknetics Coin Computer Model 9000 LCD wanted.

Believe it or not about ten years ago I found a couple of NOS displays for mine, but they turned out to be no better than the original, the problem with those is the LCD's is sandwiched between two pieces of glass and in those days the LCD's were pretty new to the market, so after time (even new unused ones) the seal between the glass would leak and cause the display to smear, or turn black in areas. Those displays were custom made for Teknetics and so they were NEVER used in any other display for any other company!
I really loved my 9000/B but I sold it.
Now if you still like to use that detector you could look for the Teknetics 8500, is was basically the same detector but with an analog display, or the later version the Teknetics Eagle was a bit deeper due to it being two filter arrangement, it also had and analog display!!

Good luck with finding a working meter, the 9000 was a GREAT detector, it wasn't a depth monster, its targeting ID ability was AMAZING!
Battery clips were frail,
Even as a hip mount it was heavy,
And the displays went bad, EVEN NEW UNUSED ONES!
Kill Wills of East Texas Detectors was the one that bought out ALL remaining Teknetics factory inventory including the 9000 displays and he ran out of them MANY years ago.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the information , i am still hunting with the 9000 , i hunt in GB- Max and use TR Disc to help ID targets. I am thinking about trying to mod the detector so i can switch from GB Max to Tr disc from a switch mounted at the end of the handle. The GB max mode is pretty deep. I have pulled all the rusted battery clips out and made the AA battery system redundant, and now have powered the detector with a NIMH recharge pack.
I only paid a fiver (£5) uk for the detector!.... The circuits seem super reliable on these old coin computers. Still trying to find a GOLD RING with this baby Or work of art it's both actually , pretty unique.... I have two of these machines now and both have bad LCD 's.... Fisher VLF 441 is a recent addition to keep the Coin Computer from getting lonely...
