The old tek machines were awesome , but the technology is old. I used to get dimes 5" deep in disc,on my Mark 1, you can do much better with todays machines.

Oh I realize that:poke:...But probably 90% :detecting:of finds with a park machine are in the top 3" of dirt. This Detector does have it's place even in a world of modern updated products. It has a bonus that some of today's machines don't have....It's Exciting to hunt with.:look:The sounds are so much better than most of todays machines.:sleepy:

I'd take this detector over my GTI in a park anyday!

You can do more with a $150 Tesoro Compadre than you could do with most machines on the market 25 years ago. That includes covering alot more ground due to less weight / faster circuits and thereby increasing your odds of finding more good targets.

As far as TID, VID, ad nauseum, you'll never know until you dig it. The biggest differences in machines these days is not in what one will necessarily do "better" than another, but in what the manufacturer sponsored advertising hype can "convince" us that we "need" to get better results.

FWIW

For the first month I felt the depth should be better on my Mark 1, but after I put some hours on it and learned a few things I found I was digging some very deep coins. The secret was going slow, listening and changing the speed of the coil when you thought you heard a tone change. Dug many coin at 10-11 inches deep.
I will say it was the best and deepest we had in those days and these detectors were so much further advanced then we had seen before.
I hope in 20 year we can say the same about these new T-2s

You certainly hit the nail on the head with that statement...Matt

Deeper...Deeper...Deeper...is that all we can ask for all the time.

Years ago....I got so tired of digging with a screwdriver, That I went to a shovel. And now that I have a GTI.... I gots to get a Bigger Digger!

So ......here we go ..hehehehe

Once I get the T2 ... I hope I don't have to go to a Backhoe!
