teknetics 8000

i have a teknetics 8000 that i am looking for some info on it...

how does it compare to other tek models like the 8500,9000,mark 1

how many filters does it have? is it a 2 or 4 filter machine...

does anyone have any suggestions as to fixing the broken battery tabs?

thanks

Fixing the battery tabs!
Does it take 14 double AA batteries?
Are the end tabs bad, or just the between battery tabs?

The between battery tabs are pretty easy to replace, the little plastic stem that holds it in place is mushroom melted on the top to keep it from slipping through the hole in the tab. Take an exact-o knife and trim the mushroom edge off of the plastic stem. Slip the clip in place and put a drop of super glue gel on the top of the pin and it should be fine. If the plastic stem is broken off flat then you have to scratch off or ruff up the finish of the tab on its bottom and super glue the whole bottom of the tab to the case.

To replace the end tabs with the wires on them the case has to be taken apart as far as I can tell.

I know, where can you find replacement tabs (battery clips)?
Go to brokendetector.com That's a place call East Texas Metal Detectors, The person that owns it is Keith Wills. When Teknetics folded he bought ALL of the factory inventory so he still has lots of stuff for the older Teknetics detectors and repairs them. He sells those clips in whole replacement sets or single if that's what you want. The clips don't cost that much for the whole set, I bought the whole set plus four extra between clips.

Not sure about your other questions?
I have owned a,
9000/B
Mark I
8500/B (I still own this one)

thanks mark

the end tabs are fine, just the in between tabs are missing...no stems left either...the ole girl works very well, just want to bring back up to par, since the battery tabs are the only thing wrong with it...

thanks again

The Tek. 8000 is very similar to the 8500 and 9000, but the 8500 B and 9000 B also feature Tone ID. The Mark 1 was different from the others because ti was almost a 2-filter model providing a slower-sweep and quicker-response.

The 8000, 8500 and 9000 models were 4-filter types and require a quicker sweep to work well.

Others gave you that help by suggesting you contact Keith Wills in Texas.

If it works well, then fix it and put it to work!
