Tejons' first coins...(maiden voyage)

Took the Tejon out for a road test at the schoolyard to get a feel for what it's trying to tell me. Then I figured I'd go down to the old ballpark to really dig some trash and play with the machine some more to learn. Nothing special coin wise...this was a learning trip, nothing more. I did the power balance thing at home in my yard and was impressed with my air tests on silver dime, quarter, and IH penny. Used the power balance thingy at 2 different locations in town and all seemed to go well..???? Didn't really dig anything deep...deepest was a clad quarter @ 5-6" and also dug a nice sounding target @ about 7" and it wasn't a coin but about quarter size. Some of the pennies hit real hard and were a lot deeper than I expected as I'm used to the GSII. They were only 3-4" deep but hit a lot harder with the Tejon than they would have with the GSII so I'm hopeful on this new machine. It's lighter and better balanced and I'm slowly warming up to it. I dug a lot of pulltabs and screwcaps but I dug the bulk of them on purpose to learn the Tejon language. Typical Tesoro so far and you'll dig every screwcap you come acrossed....lol Haven't found that deeper "whisper" to dig yet....so I can't comment just yet on deeper coins...still learning.

PS....that damn Smokey Bear token showed a shiny reeded edge with writing next to the rim when I first saw it in the hole. I just KNEW that I was gonna be posting a silver half for you guys on the maiden voyage....DAMN....lol Anyways...learned some today and got 40 coins.

dont worry about the maiden voyage finds, I have not found anything good all summer and its no reflection on the detector, looks like a verycapable machine thats a lot of cladd

Nice going on your first trip out the Tejon. You don't have to run the Tejon hot to get fantastic depth with it. Set the threashold in the all metal mode to where there is a slight hum, before flipping it over into the discriminate mode. At that setting you can still pinpoint without any problem. Turn the sensitivity up to a point just before it starts to get chatty. I've hit some really deep targets doing that way. You may pick up a tad more depth with it being super tuned, but it's not worth it.

I don't think he supertuned it, but rather just powerbalanced. For me, doing the whole super tuned thing makes the disc, well, useless. I do run supertuned deep in the woods with no trash in sight, my some day I will find Paul Revere's cell phone or Washingtons Ipad?
