2 Silvers today! A 1940 quarter, and a religious medallion (says "sterling" on it). Also found other religious items, and an indian arrowhead unearthed digging a target. All this within an hour. Not pictured is a massive pocket spill of over $5 in change.
Should mention the silver medallion was a measured 10" in depth.
Tomorrow I pick up my Outlaw in Detroit. Can't wait!!
The quarter wasn't super deep. Somewhere in the 5" to 6" range.
Tried the Compadre this morning, and it's just not jiving with me anymore. I guess I'm just too spoiled now with all the features of my other machines. Switched out to the Deleon and dug 47 coins in 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, no real keepers. Might be time to pass on the Compadre to someone who will get more use out of it. My daughter is excited to try the Outlaw.
I'm heading back to my productive site tomorrow with a buddy swinging a new AT Gold. It will be interesting to see how he does vs. the Tejon.
So we did our hunt this morning as planned. Beautiful day, but the ground is still pretty saturated from all the rain last week. Anyway, we got an early start at the location that produced the above results. Today was not productive. I was chasing all the quiet whispers hoping for more deep silver, but ended up with just a few non-keeper coins. The AT Gold didn't fair so well. At my request, he hunted an area I had worked with the Vaquero. We wanted to see how much more effective the AT Gold is over the Vaquero. After close to 3 hours, all he got was one penny and a lot of trash. The Vaquero was very effective in finding 99% of all the coins in that area. Either I'm pretty good, or the Vaquero is pretty good. Or maybe a combination of both.
The ATs are not deep machines. An experienced Tejon and/or Vaquero user will get just a little more depth and will probably dig more trash, but will come up with more keepers. Where the ATs excel, are in areas with a lot of trash from 6 to 8 inches deep. In fact, if you have good ground, that Tejon should be able to get a little deeper than the Garrett AT. I have an AT Pro and I'm loving it for high trash and water hunting, but my relic hunting is split between my X-terra 70 with a big coil to find a productive site and then the Tejon to hunt it.
