Tejon with a 12x10 SEF Coil

Is anybody out there using this combination? I have a nice Tejon and it does very well with the stock coil on it, but I know that the potential for it to go deeper is there. My intention is to set it up for relic hunting.

I am considering putting a 12x10 SEF on my Tejon, but wanted to see if anyone out there has put it through the paces yet and tested it with this setup. I am not interested in the 12x10 concentric....just the SEF coil that is marketed by Kellyco.

Thanks

I don't have that combination John, but did get the 12X10 wide scan coil for my Tejon. It am getting every bit the depth that I got with the stock coil and it appears maybe a little more. I did a a quick air test with my key ring and it looked like about two more inches with the Key chain. It gets a lot better coverage...don't seem like anything I would use in a trashy area though. I dug a 3 inch hotchkiss at a little over 20 inches last weekend and had a nice solid signal...not loud just solid. It seems to cover the area a lot better. I noticed I could pick up minnie balls that were 6 or 8 inches deep when the target was 4 inches off the coil...It also picks up the snaps on my boots if I am not careful. Pinpointing takes a little work to get used to..it seems the surface targets are a little harder to pinpoint. I have learned to correct the problem by lifting the coil farther off the ground.

Once you are used to the stock coil the bigger coil throws the balance of the machine off some. I notice it in my shoulder after a couple hours of hunting, especially on the steeper grades. Due to the change in the way the machine balances I'm actually getting pretty good switching arms...I can cover almost as good left handed as I can right handed now.

Thanks! I have the 10x12 concentric for my uMax machines, but I haven't used them for relic hunting....they are strictly coinshooters for me. The Tejon on the other hand, thats the one that I want to get set up for field hunting....walking in the wide open fields and covering a lot of ground. The stock coil does ...ok...but if there is a noticeable advantage with the 12x10 SEF coil for the Tejon, then I would like to go that route. I just don want to get it and have it be the same depth wise with the only improvement being more coverage. Think about it....the difference in 2-3 inches of depth capacity could be the difference in many years of history that you are not able to reach.

I took the stock coil off and put the 6x10,I think thats the size. Very happy with it.I thought about the bigger coil ,but ain't wanting to add any more weight.
