Has no no-motion mode I have heard, must keep moving in All-Metal.
"tejon has a little a little more horsepower under the hood but is heavier and the gain is maybe 2 or 3" more"
This answers a depth question I wanted to know. Is this extra weight of the Tejon is because of the batteries (8AA's) under the arm rest and NOT because of the control head? And the Vaquero is lighter with the 9V battery.
I owned a Tejon and found that it was too sensitive. It was for me. I would dig a target and lay it on the ground and it would just growl all the time. I sent it back and got a Cibola...
What do you mean by that, "too sensitive"? I thought the more sensitivity the better equals more depth. What did you lay on the ground, the Tejon unit itself and it growled all the time being too noisy? I am curious why did it growl, is this because it picked up powerline electrical interference or another reason? Why didn't you just turn down the sensitivity then to remedy this problem in this area? Thank you for any answers.
"I like to run the sensitivity up around ten and discrimination at iron in the dry. Turn the discrimination up to foil over the wet. Over some of the wet sand, I'd have to run sensitivity down to 7 and discrimination high side of foil. Over the wet and real black sand, I couldn't get the Tejon to ground balance, sensitivity down in the 4 to 5 range and depth not real good. I have heard the Vaquero does better on the ground balance range than the Tejon.
Good luck! tvr"
This I got off of another thread. I have also heard before that the Tejon did not handle bad high-mineralized ground not very well like on the goldfields. This above confirms it. But the Tejon probably does very well in mild low-mineralization and black dirt though. In bad high-mineralization a person is probably better off using a Vaquero rather than a Tejon.
