Tejon thoughts....

I have had my Tejon for a couple of weeks and i'll tell you, at first, I didn't get it. I have only used a Sovering GT with a meter in the past and the Tejon seemed a little like a toy at first but... this afternoon I was using it and I just started digging good targets. I am learning to hear what it is telling me after a few swings over a target. It will either steady up or fall apart. I am starting to get it. I don't really understand it but it's working. I really didn't think it was going to work for me but it IS!!! No, I don't quite understand it but it's working! I am happy with it. Tomorrow I am getting a handheld pinpointer to use with it and that is the missing piece. I am excited about it!

Had mine for about the same and I have recovered more deep good targets than I thought I would. Have found some deep coins where I often hunt. The wiggle over the target seems to help the disc and the pinpointer is a must for the tiny stuff it finds. Even with the sensitivity low it still id's deep.
Anybody out there know if the widescan coils let you ground balance less often? Sure would like to give one a try. :spin:

With the wide scan coil, it does deal with mineralization better, however based upon my hunting practices I check my ground balance every few feet- with any coil. You may or may not want to do this, however from what I have been learning in the past few weeks, ground mineralization changes from one extreme to another at a few paces in my ground. However, this is just me. You might be in an area, where your ground is very good and you don't have to do this. The kicker would be even if I were in better ground, I would ground balance the same just because I have adapted it to my style of hunting. But, in summary the wide scan actually does a very good job in both mineralization and iron, and is still able to squeak targets out even with the ground littered with iron nails. Keep that in mind- I have the 12 x 10, the standard coil, and the smaller coil. Between them all in my type of hunting, I prefer the standard and smaller coil as they truly clean out a hunted out place, very well!

When you do this do you just pull the trigger and bob it up and down a couple of times or do you change any other settings?

Thanks,

J
