I am thinking about getting a new probe for use with my Tejon. I have looked at several. The pistol probe seems to come out on top of my choices. My question is has anyone used this probe and does it cause cross talk (Interference) with the Tejon ?
What probes do you all use and have good success with?
I thought about buying one, but I wear headphones that seal out noise pretty well and it isn't loud enough for me and doesn't vibrate.
It does seem to have the most depth, however. JMHO

As the TeJon is a high freq. imagine most probes would be lower...With all the pinpointer probes out there just might be nice to hear some input as if your probe interfers with your unit money not well spent and time to trade.....
I have a Pistol Probe and do love it for coins as it is very deep to about 5" on nickles in the air. But I have heard it is not good for very small gold nuggets. A Falcon MD-20 would be better for that.
The PP is the deepest probe on the market but the handle is bulky is the drawback.
I read about the falcon unit. it sounds like vlf tech...i would like a pi probe and got excited about the pprobe there for a minute...i just dont want to deal with digging up the anoying hot rocks
I forgot about the Falcon Probe ! I called the company and talked to Wally. I was told there is a five year warranty(Pistol probe warranty two years). Falcon is made in the USA (AZ). Not sure where Pistol Probe is made?? I sure hope it's not China!!!!! Model MD20FP hand held probe has a six week lead time. he says, they build MD 20 w/5' cable, has no lead time as they build 100 MD 20's to one MD20FP. He said the MD 20's have a high resale value compared to the MD20FP.
I just went to the falcon site here and obtained more information on the MD 20 and the MD20FP. The MD 20 is the model with the 5" cable. The MD20FP is more like a regular hand held probe. I have checked the net, and so far I have read good things about this probe. It is suppose to detect really small gold with little difficulties. Still, I have not read anything on how it handles the hot rocks. Also, It's suppose to be really substandard as a coin pin pointer. Though it's suppose to detect a dime at about a max 2" depth, I still don't see how "substandard" this depth is considering that most pin pointers max out at 2" depth if you're lucky (with the exception of the pistol probe, of course). My guess is that the purchaser felt ripped off when he used it as a coin probe considering that he could have gotten a similarly capable unit for a fraction of the cost.
Anyways, I found another site on user feedback: here
I guess both units (Pistol Probe and the MD 20/MD20FP) are both great units if the user uses them for their intended use.
I was looking at the Pistol Probe too. The size and some discussions lead me towards the Garrett Pro pointer. The Pro Pointer is very good. Good depth and good feedback. I can hear it through my noise canceling head phones, or I can put my thumb over the grated area where the speaker is and keep it quiet and just feel it. My back up is a Harbor Freight $15 unit that actually does better than many of the more expensive pinpointers I tried; although it does not come close to the Pro Pointer.
The Vibra-Probe 460 I picked up talked to every detector I have and was not as deep as the Harbor Freight unit. I still have the 460, since it is water proof; so it is useful.
Can't speak to nugget detection; have not tried that.

I use a sunray probe and a garretts pro pointer probe. I like the fact the sunray probe is mounted on my cz and i can't forget to pick it up after digging a target. the garrett pro pointer works great and gives me 2 to 3 inches depth and is much more compact than the pistol probe. I also don't like the pistol probe for the fact it resembles a handgun from a distance and that could be a problem if you hunt in the city. try a few different probes if you can before you buy one, but the garretts is hard to beat for the money............roger
Vibra-Probe 580 is one I have also been looking into. I like the Idea of being water proof, especially since our parks always seem to be wet in the morning from watering. Just lay it down and not worry. Also the company is about 30 minute drive from me. This probe is made in the U.S.A. and that is what I am looking for
I have the 5.75" wide scan installed on my tejon, and you really don't need a pin pointer like you said. Before getting the coil, it was actually one of the additional benefits that played into my purchase. However, in my case, I really don't need a pin pointer to pin point a target. I am considering a PI pin pointer to verify a signal. Hot rocks fool the tejon, even with my wide scan. and it gets so tiring having to dig them.
I guess I should have gotten a PI unit from the very start.... Still though, I love my tejon.
