tejon settings

Relic hunting as well as cache hunting requires a totally different approach to coin shooting.
I set my disc completely ccw but not clicked to all metal, then dig all solid signals.

Below is another tip that will help with the Tejon.

tmb58:

I primarily relic hunt with the Tejon. My primary discriminator is set just above iron, and the second discriminator is just above foil. If the trash is light in the area that I am hunting - then I'll dig everything that comes through just above iron. Many - many bullet that are deep will be discriminated out if you set your primary disc above iron. Of course, you will dig some junk, but that is the name of the game with relic hunting.

I have not used the Tejon much with coin hunting. I prefer a detector with target i.d. for that purpose (either Whites or Garrett). The Tejon is a tad too noisy in the high concentrations of trash. You must set you disc settings higher to avoid the billions of pull-tabs in our local parks. I can recommend the 5.75 coil if you plan on hunting trashy areas. Extra coils are a must if you plan to master a new detector.

I set my main disc just above foil, audio freq at the 3 o'clock position. You should have high-end head phones, as this will allow you to hear the subtle language of the Tejon. At this freq setting iron will have real "snap" to it, a real sharpness to the beep, whereas good targets will have nice, smooth repeatable audio. Be sure your GB is on and slightly positive. Check it periodically because if its off you can lose a lot of depth. Run your sens as high as you can with out the machine "chirping". Turn it up until it chirps, and they back it down until its quiet. On my machine, thats about at the "10" setting.

[size=medium]For relic hunting with the Tejon I set the primary discriminate the same as markg,
