Tejon set up

Hi Tejon Gurus.

Love my Tejon, after one year with it I think its one of the few machines I will keep for a long time.

How do you set it up in Challenging minerals, from medium to very mineralized.

In minerals I tend to keep my sens at about 4 with the stock coil and about a quarter turn + offset GB. In Normal soil I keep it at perfect GB and as high sens as possible without chatter.

In high minerals I have the impression that keeping the sens further below point of stable operation infact gives you more depth and sens.

Fact or fiction ??

I havent had my Tejon for a couple of years, but I did use it in a very mineralized area. I always used it at the highest stable setting that I could. I know that backing off the sensitivity is important at times, but I always thought that if I ran it at the highest stable sensitivity, that would be the most effective. I ran it through some gold mining areas near here, that while I didnt find any nuggets in the tailings, I did find some deep nails, so I know that it was working well with my settings. I dont know if this helps you or not, but this is just what I did with mine. Stability is the key. If its not chattering and falsing, why not run it as hot as it can?

Thanks.

I do this because i "think" I have seen better performance on smaller items.

I was not thinking just depthwise but also on more shallow small stuff. Maybe There is an effect on masking in high minerals that cause me to have a way too low sens stable wise.

If it works ok in goldfields the hot way my setting may be due to my imagination that fools me.

Any other views from other tejon lovers.

A very well known detectorist in the UK hunts with the Tejon at sensitivity level 6 or less with much success. With the 12x10 coil he operates at level 2. This is of course in the UK ground conditions, heavy mineralisation and 3,000 years of iron in the ground. I would say don't be afraid to experiment with low sensitivity settings in bad ground. The Tejon has plenty of power and a lower than normal setting might turn up a few surprises. :detecting:

What you're saying has merit, and if it works well for you, do it and dont look back:) Good luck with it and HH!
